We are very confident in the quality, performance and design of Hoshi Automotive LED headlights, confident enough to offer a LIFETIME warranty. Our products are designed, produced and tested with 3 core principles in every decision:QUALITY PERFORMANCE & DESIGN We source only the highest quality components, periodically inspect our production facilities and implement strict quality controls. Where is this product made? Hoshi Automotive is an American company. Founded and operated by two Marine veteran brothers. One an electrical engineer and the other an accountant. Product design, quality control, marketing, management and customer service all accomplished with 100% American employees. The internal moving parts (most important for reliability/performance) are sourced from Japan and the assembly in China. What is the Lumen (Lm)? Many headlight conversion kits boast 8-12k Lm. This is very misleading if not deceiving. There are two ways to measure Lm: 1.) THEORETICAL Lm: A mathematical calculation based on LED components. 2.) HEMISPHERIC CHAMBER: a large, semi-sphere machine that tests Lm at multiple wattages over specific testing intervals. Obviously, the most accurate option is the hemispheric chamber; however, most advertised ratings are theoretical ratings. Every HOSHI LED bulb fitment is tested in a hemispheric chamber. We stand by our ratings and will happily provide our results!WARNING: PLEASE CONTACT US WITH ANY INSTALLATION ISSUES AS MOST HAVE SIMPLE SOLUTION AND WE APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ASSIST. IN A FEW VEHICLE APPLICATIONS EXTERNAL DRIVER MAY BE REQUIRED. WE PROVIDE UPON REQUEST. RUNNING WITH DUST COVER WILL CAUSE DECREASED PERFORMANCE, EFFICIENCY AND RELIABILITY. WARRANTY MUST BE REGISTERED IN THE TIME AND MANNER PROVIDED WITH YOUR PURCHASE.

Bright, efficient light - easy to install
I have used LED headlights for a year now and I think the bluer color of the light makes it easier to see street signs - it seems to reflect brighter than standard halogen bulbs. I installed these Hoshi LED bulbs today to replace some older ones I had in my 2009 Highlander. I have attached some photos to compare the two different bulbs and the light that comes from each. The Hoshi bulb is on the right headlight and the competitor bulb is on the left. As you can see, the light is very similar, if not exactly the same color and intensity. But also look at the photo with the two bulbs side by side. The Hoshi bulb is much more compact and does not have the converter box. Also, the Hoshi bulb as only 4 LED chips, which I assume are individually more powerful than the multiple smaller chips in the old bulb. So the Hoshi bulb was very easy to install; I just removed the old bulb and dust cover, and put the Hoshi bulb into the hole with the bulb vertical (it should only fit one way), clamped down the retainer clip and plugged it in. It took all of 5 minutes. The Hoshi is all one unit -- you cannot remove the fan/heat sink from the bulb - so you also cannot reinstall the dust cover. The install guide says that the dust cover is not needed because the bulb is weatherproof. We will see if dirt/dust can get into the lens without the dust cover and I will update this review if it does. The old bulb has a passive heat sink. This bulb has an active fan with its heat sink, which is on whenever the bulb is on. I am a bit wary that the fan might malfunction at some point, but these bulbs come with a lifetime warranty so there is recourse if they stop working at some point.Update 10/4/17: I am revising this review after using these LED bulbs for a few months. The high beam really is not much brighter than low beam. Usually when you use high beams, the light shines farther down the road, but with these the light just gets a little brighter but not any 'higher' to shine down the road farther. Also, people constantly flash their high beams at me -- so apparently these LEDs are not well shielded to keep from shining into oncoming cars. I do have them adjusted to not shine about level at 25', but there must be some glare anyway.

Very Nice and Affordable
Edit - I still like these, but I noticed after doing a long drive up the coast, that they do provide more overall light, but it is less focused directly in front of the car. So on my 2012 Mustang, there is way more light, but the area you are driving is NOT significantly brighter than stock. It does reach a little farther, but not enough that you'll be blown out of the water. The color and cast of the light is more premium looking, but if you are looking for a blazing spotlight type affect and you have big ol normal halogen lights, these may not be your best bet. May be more effective with projectors though,~~~~~Overall, these seem pretty cool so far. Install was not too bad on my mustang... but Ford doesn't give you a ton of room to work with. Easier if you have tiny hands I guess.Others have commented that the bulb feels loose, and I did notice a tiny bit of play once the oring thingy is locked in. However, once I secured it completely tightening, I tugged on the back of the bulb, and there didn't seem to be any way this would come out. Granted, I am not offroading my mustang, that would be effin weird. But seems secure enough for everyday driving. If these fall out or otherwise have weirdness, will update.Color looks fantastic, light throws significantly further than stock headlamp. Nice upper cutoff also (prob due to the overhang Ford gives on the mustang hood, but w/e, works for me).

Not easy to install. Not very bright.
Well, here's the thing, as a combat veteran I really wanted to love these bulbs but I don't see how they are any better than the Extreme Vision bulbs ($50) I put in my fog lights other than they make an H1 bulb. EV doesn't. Plus, they just aren't that bright. Plus they had to be modified to get them into a standard H1 socket. The adapter socket starts the bulb in the wrong position so you can't turn it to line up with their tabs. I ended up breaking a retainer clip trying to make it work. Btw the back end of these things are HUGE! In their defense, they do give the dimensions of the unit in the posting, but I didn't realize the impact that huge back end would have to fitment/install. I understand that it has to be like that to house the "ballast" and not have it be separate. They may make awesome bulbs in other sizes but these are a tough go. Oh and you see that nice plug in the picture? Not happening. Cheap spade ends on wire half the gage of stock. $90 and not as good as the $50 ones. I'd keep looking if I were you.

Looks well built, but lack of dust cover was concern.
I was impressed with the packaging, presentation, and life time warranty on this item. It looks like a high quality item. However, I did not think it would be good for my SUV that uses the H4 bulb. Because of the fan assembly on the unit, there is no way to use the factory dust cover. Without the dust cover there is a late hole in my headlamp about 3" in diameter. Given I use my SUV at times off road, that open hole would ruin my headlamps on the first off road trip with dust getting inside the housing. I also suspect water would get inside too. You could probably make a custom dust cover, or even seal the area with Gorilla duct tape, but I didn't want to mess with that. Just wanted to point out this potential problem with having to leave the dust cover off to use this style of LED bulb on a H4 headlamp.
