Fuzzy like a... ;)
All I can say is damn! This thing is thick, and has a insane amount of fuzz. Make sure to have a good shielded cable before running this through your setup. Sheesh.

Looking for that Smashing Pumpkins sound?
If you are ever looking for a similar Smashing Pumpkins sound (Gish, Siamese Dream era), go ahead and get this. Simple and direct to the point pedal; love it.

BBE Free Fuzz : nice (Si) based fuzz.
This has a EHX bigmuff Pi sound. Definately more "fuzzy" not so much over-the-top squealable fuzz. I like it a lot, especially at this price point. Quality build. I could do without the HUGE smelly rubber no-slip pad on the bottom of the thing though. AND it's not so easy to get off.

Very responsive to your playing.
Excellent vintage fuzz clone. Could probably use a bit more bottom end, but otherwise entirely respectable. Responds to your pick attack and is easily controlled using the guitar volume. Good affordable alternative to the boutique reissue pedals.

Fuzzy
The BBE Free Fuzz is decent, serviceable, yet unremarkable. It's not a bad product; mine is built tough and sound-wise it generally blends with other boosts and drives. It tends to be a volume sucker, so any kind of quiet clean boost will enhance the fuzz. It also will impart it's hum and static noise into your signal chain, especially when played through a lesser or broken amp. It sounds all right going through my 21 watt Fuchs Black Jack. The pedal has enough headroom to be loud and dense, getting sort of a wall-of-buzz effect when the volume is turned up. The sweep of the fuzz knob will start in the range of a gritty, quiet boost and go all the way up into the metallic murk of buzzy fuzz tones. Finding a sweet spot between the pedal and the amp is easy with the guitar's volume knob. If you're really looking for the always-sought after Hendrix fuzz tones, you might want to sample others. It doesn't have the fat roundness of Hendrix's best Fuzz Faces, but it still has an obvious '60's vibe. I have rated it at three stars because of it's tendency to be noisy and hissy in most signal chains. But if you can score one for under $40.00, it's a really good grab. I think I paid 10 or 15 dollars more for mine, but you'll save some cash.
