Review: Good but pithy - Very useful pure maths textbook to start your AS journey. Examples and exercises are well laid out but explanations can be a bit pithy. I've found myself scratching my head (and it's not the dandruff) figuring how they got to the next step in the solution, but ChatGPT does the trick in most cases. I think if you have support or are taught, this textbook is fine. Otherwise you may find it a bit too concise to get your head around the more complex algebraic manipulations. Just keep practicing. The Edexcel exam for pure maths (P1) lasts 2 hours and covers pretty much the entire curriculum, so be prepared to practice with past papers and sitting and concentrating for that time!

Very useful pure maths textbook to start your AS journey. Examples and exercises are well laid out but explanations can be a bit pithy. I've found myself scratching my head (and it's not the dandruff) figuring how they got to the next step in the solution, but ChatGPT does the trick in most cases. I think if you have support or are taught, this textbook is fine. Otherwise you may find it a bit too concise to get your head around the more complex algebraic manipulations. Just keep practicing. The Edexcel exam for pure maths (P1) lasts 2 hours and covers pretty much the entire curriculum, so be prepared to practice with past papers and sitting and concentrating for that time!
