Easy to use, great features, works well on large and small dogs
We bought this collar set to replace an old expensive one that finally broke after four years of use. We've been using this collar for about a week and so far are happy with it. I like being able to use one remote for two dogs. I wasn't sure how easy it would be to switch between dog 1 and 2 at a moment's notice but with our dogs being at different training levels, it hasn't been an issue as I haven't had to correct them both simultaneously. There is a switch on the side of the remote that lets you toggle which collar you're controlling.Great for both large and small dogs!We use one collar for our 100lb happy-go-lucky labradoodle who likes to explore and run up to strangers to say hi. Although harmless, his large size is very intimidating so we don't want him running and jumping on people. Since he's already been trained with the three stages, he reacts to the tone signal right away. I wasn't sure how he'd do with the tone being different from his previous collar (this one is a bit longer and has a lower pitch, and it quite a bit louder), however he responds to it the same way.We use the other collar for our 25lb cockalier who loves sharing her opinion and barks at everything that moves. She's never experienced a collar before, and I wanted to ease her into the training, especially since she's a small dog. I was afraid to use the shock function on her so we started with the vibration set to 20-30. The first time she felt the vibration against her neck she instantaneously stopped barking, confused, and tried pulling the collar off. Once she settled down we again let her bark at someone knocking on the door, then alternated between hitting the vibrate and tone buttons to get her used to reacting the same way to both. After 5-6 presses, she walked over to me and sat calmly, although still confused. Now we're able to just use the tone and she reacts instantly. In fact, the last few times someone came to the door she didn't bark at all.Design and FeaturesThe collar strap is nice and long, and we had to trim it even for the large dog. The buckles are a good size and seem to hold up well for the large dog and the little dog, without getting in the way or seeming uncomfortable. I'm still getting used to the vinyl material the collars are made from. Our last collar was a regular type material, like the standard collars so having the vinyl feels a bit cheap. We'll see how it holds up over time and hopefully it feels comfortable to the dogs. So far, so good.I love the button arrangement and how easy they are to access, even without looking. This was the main reason I decided to buy this set instead of one with the other type of remote that has a little digital display (I found with that type of remotes, I'd always forget which button did what or which setting it was currently on). The buttons on this remote are laid out in an intuitive way, with the tone button at the bottom, then vibration above it, then the shock at the top and slightly to the left. The only thing I worry about is accidently bumping the dial up too high and hitting the shock button. The dial turns quite easily and I can see it being bumped in your pocket or just by holding it. I wish it "clicked" more from one level to the next instead of smoothly turning. I end up double checking the dial setting when I grab the remote each time.I love that it's waterproof. We live near the beach and take the dogs for walks by a lake, so that eliminates the worry if they jump into the water with the collar on. I also like that the collars come in two totally different colors, making it easy to quickly put the right one on the right dog.

She is a smart dog, it didn't take long for her to ...
Bought this for my overly vocal 4 legged friend. She was reverting back to her naughty self (especially with barking at other dogs) as me and my wife slacked on the disciplining while dealing with 2 additions to the family. Couple of times I'd drive 20 mins each way to the dog park to get her some much needed/deprived attention on the weekend and we couldn't stay longer than 15 mins because she would get so vocal (even though friendly in her ways) that the other owners were visibly nervous for their dogs - so I'd have to remove her. That was the last straw and after days of non-stop research/weeding through seemingly 10s of identical products, I decided on this particular model mainly for the button layouts and the colors. After a couple months of use, I'm writing this review:She is a smart dog, it didn't take long for her to learn her in-ground fence, and this was no different. At first I tried to only use the sound and vibration warnings, and it did NOTHING. So I had to up the ante and finally after shocking her 2-3 times, she got the point and now, I only need to use the beep (along with my verbal "no barking" command) and I can almost immediately get her to come to me - or at least she would remove herself from the situation. The last few times we went to the park, I didn't really need to use the device at all, her behavior is much much improved. Individual results might vary of course. As for the review on the product itself. It is what is it. Packaged fairly well, the rubber/plastic collars come extra long and unless you're putting it around a horse, you'll trim it down. The box(es) are solid, a single on button turns them on and they shut off automatically after a while. So if you put it on the dog before a long car ride or not having to use it for a while, make sure you hit the button on the unit to re-activate it, otherwise it won't do what you need it to do. The remote itself is pretty solid, buttons are nice and big for easy no-look access, only downside is the strength knob/wheel on the corner is very "loose" so it's almost guarantee to be changed without your knowledge, especially when kept in a pocket. So be aware before you use it to confirm the correct level. Battery life seems OK for now, I don't use the shock or the vibration much so I hadn't have to charge it a whole lot, but there is no real low battery warning so when it's out, it's out. Charger can handle charging 2 items at a time, 2 collar boxes or 1 box & the remote. And since I only have 1 dog, I keep the 2nd box as a back up. But if you have 2 dogs you might have to find another charger if you need to charge all 3 units at the same time. Toggling between the 2 boxes is a simple switch on the remote.Overall I'm happy with it. It's winter time and I hadn't needed to use it much since we don't go to the park as often. So I can't attest to the durability/longevity of this product. But so far, everything is working as expected with great results.
