Windows 10 Upgrade Possible 8/5/16
If you are looking for a laptop or PC replacement, this may not be your best bet. If you are looking for a large Windows tablet with a keyboard, 2gigs of ram and can hook up to your WiFi for around $130, then this is a good choice. This tablet is suitable for websurfing, emailing, watching videos and the like. Personally I use Opera with Ublock for my web browsing and news reading. VLC for downloaded videos and Calibre for offline book reading. The reason for the 4 star is due to the "Free Windows 10 Upgrade Eligible". Mine did not automatically update to Windows 10. I updated Windows 8.1 to current and that's were it stoped. When attempting to get the updates it would "Check for Updates" for so long(2 hours plus kinda long) that eventually I would stop it and try it again. It eventually got some updates and then gave me an error number, I googled it and found a complicated fix. I got frustrated and went to bed. Early the next morning, I wake to find it has updated and just needs to be restarted. I don't know what to say other then, be patient?I recieved mine on August 2, 2016 and Microsoft is no longer doing the free upgrade thing. I did however get Windows 10 on it and this is what I did...I downloaded and used Microsoft's Media Tool Maker to put the 32 bit version of Windows 10 Home onto a thumb(Needs to be at least 4gigs) drive I used my PC for this. While my PC was doing that, I downloaded and installed "Magical Jellybean Keyfinder" onto the Nextbook to get the needed product key for windows, write it down. I used an "On the go" usb cable to hook the thumb drive with the Windows 10 Upgrade(That's what the Media Maker tool does for you) on it, opened it and started setup.exe. It started and asked for the product key, I said to write it down for a reason =) I then got the message the product key was not valid...what? what? I double checked every number and letter, sighed and closed down Media Maker. I then made a drink and let the dog out and returned to it about 20 minutes later. I started up the Windows 10 Upgrade setup.exe again and...Windows 10 installed...it didn't even ask for the product key again. That's what happened. What exactly happened? I have no clue. I've been working with computers for a long time and this entire incident baffles me, but I now have Windows 10 installed and Activated on my Nextbook. This was done on 8/5/16

Good enough
Arrived in working order and in great condition with good packaging. It is everything it says it is except that the keyboard gives double letters much of the time when typing. I have several computers and keyboards and even a bluetooth keyboard and this is not an issue with any of them. Also I type about 65 wpm. The reason for purchasing this was so could use it as a small carry along with Windows to type emails, etc.The price was $139 so I was hoping that it would be what I needed. It is adequate but the double typing is a serious issue. Plus the plug in cable is proprietary. Also there is another jack next to the power cable and the power cable will fit in it. Could blow up the tablet possibly if you plug it in there by mistake. Going to tape over it. Power, speed of RAM and other features are as you would expect for a machine with these specifications. Screen clarity is adequate and touch response is adequate. It connnects to the keyboard easily and the screen is protected by the keyboard when closed. Very lightweight. The outside is not slippery. It is a smooth rubbery feel. There is a bump on the back of the keyboard (designed that way) and it has two slippery plastic pieces on either side. I use it on a wood lap computer holder and it would slide around on there. I was able to remove the smooth plastic things with a little effort by grinding it down so now it doesn't slide any more. Will be keeping it.I have a computer lab and am studying for IT certs so it being Windows 8.1 is helpful for my lab work in CompTIA A+. It is supposed to include a free upgrade to Windows 10. Also, it comes with a year of Microsoft Office 365 for the tablet and one other device. So that pretty much makes it worth the money even with the issues with the keyboard.I would say overall a 3.5. Just cannot give it a 4.

I am disappointed with this device
I am disappointed with this device. The hardware is excellent for the price, but windows 8.1 is so clunky and frustrating for a touch driven tablet, and the fonts are so tiny even at medium size (highest setting). The list of headaches is s long one, but here are the biggest:Selecting, copying, pasting text is finicky and difficult, making working with text impossible compared to an android tablet. The only proper browser when using tablet mode is Internet Explorer, which is so limited compared to the options Android supports, especially my favorite: Firefox. These othet browsers and many "apps" only work in desktop mode, which is not designed for touch navigation on such a small screen. In desktop mode, the touch keyboard won't engage when you select a text field, and must be selected from the menu, then select the field, then type and touch enter, then touch keyboard menu button, then select 'close keyboard'. This is unacceptible.I tried to use the voice recognition to input text instead, but this was no better. The utility is very akward compared to Google voice, and the built in microphone is placed on the side of the tablet so it can't reliably hear your voice.Basically, you are locked in to IE, which is not readable for my aging eyes. I am a PC guy for 25 yrs+ and even programmed the custom software used to run my business on a wondows 7 machine. But I found it very difficult to customize the appearance of IE so i could surf the Internet and read what I enjoy, After spending two days trying to configure the tablet, it is little better than my GalaxyNote smartphone.Pros:Good hardware for the price.Works as both a tablet and a small PC laptop. With good vision, the laptop mode is great.Cons:Touch navigation is clunky in both tablet and desktop modes. Can't work with text without the physical keyboard. (Android is much better)Tiny font.Only touch browser that works is Internet Explorer.Other browsers, software and many apps are best used when the keyboard is attached. If you want a tablet for easier reading than your smartphone, then stick with an Android device.I would return this item if there was a proper reason, but unfortunately it is working just as it was designed to.Some with a similar experience have installed Android on a separate partition to create a dual boot system, but the only report I came across was that it was only possible to get the boot prompt if the keyboard is attached and F12 pressed at startup. This kind of defeats the goal of using Android for the tablet (no keyboard) and Win 8.1 for the laptop configuration. If anyone has had success with this, let us know. A dual boot system might be what's needed to get the best of both worlds with this decent laptop PC that struggles to also be a user-friendly tablet.
