Product Description Erroll Babbage (Richard Gere) has spent his career tracking sex offenders and his unorthodox methods are nearly as brutal as the criminals he monitors. When he links one of his deranged parolees to the disappearance of a local girl, he and his new partner (Claire Danes) must scour the S&M underground to find her before it's too late. .com Richard Gere stars in The Flock as Errol Babbage, a government employee in charge of tracking registered sex offenders who has become convinced he can tell when they're about to offend again. When a young girl is kidnapped, he loses his bearings and sinks into a violent obsession, dragging his new partner (Claire Danes) into a dogged investigation that includes abusive interrogations, flagrant violations of civil rights, and a whole lot of sexual tension between the two of them. The Flock is the sort of overheated thriller that wants to condemn sexual deviance while depicting it in absurdly lurid and titillating ways (the scenes in a porn studio/fetish market are slathered with moral indignation but ooze with repressed lust). The movie wants to be a portrait of a passionate man who risks becoming what he most abhors, but it's implausible at every turn. The Flock lurches from one sleazy sequence to another, intoxicated by its own hypocrisy, cheering on Babbage's vigilantism while pretending to compare it with the dangerous acting-out of the deviants. In the end, Babbage is redeemed and affirmed. Also featuring Ray Wise (Twin Peaks), KaDee Strickland (Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid), French Stewart (3rd Rock from the Sun), and an extremely brief appearance by pop star Avril Lavigne. --Bret Fetzer

Flock was a wonderful movie about the truth of what parole officers, who keep track of sex offenders
Richard Geer and Claire Danes were perfect together in the roles as the experienced parole officer of sex offenders Richard Geer and the newbie, who is take over Geer's job. She learns that the job is a lot tougher than she expected and sees why Richard Geer is the way he is with these people, who Lie through their eye teeth every chance they get. They show the sick world of the sexual parolees and what the parole officer has to never trust a one of them, as they are not going to change one bit, as this is a person who is no longer a human being, but a very mentally sick individual, who does not give a damn about human life.............

Very good, very believeable
Gere is very good as the state or county government worker who tracks child molesters. He is driven by demons, some of which he no doubt had already, but lots of them from the stress and general thanklessness of the job. I like the scenes of the government offices, large rooms crammed with desks and a ceiling filled with fluorescent lights, just like in real life. Claire Danes, to me, is somewhat miscast as a young trainee. I just didn't believe her character. The bad guys are truly bad, and some of the scenes are really creepy, but I cannot object to them. The movie was shot in New Mexico, a nice touch. Richard Gere always surprises me by his acting. He really is believable in his roles.

"Flock" a MUST see
I watched "Flock" with surprise, as I hadn't even seen promo's for it. I LOVED IT!!! I don't need to tell you whats in the movie, everyone else has already done that. I was amazed by the movie. Richard Gere, can play ANYTHING and make it come out good. I believe he did better in this, than he did in "Internal Affairs" and I believe that's saying a lot. While the movie is some what slow at first, it has to be. It has to get the people watching it, into what's going on. I feel that's hard to do, with the subject at hand. Sexual predators is a very hard subject to do in a movie. It's a touchy subject. Anyone in "real life", who works with these people gets a feeling about them. I doubt that many of them act on it. That's what I love about this movie. I felt myself WANTING to do just what Gere's character did. I can't wait to get the movie for myself. I own ALL of Richard Gere's movies and I haven't be disappointed in any of them. I feel Gere should get an award for this movie, as it IS an out-of-cast character for him, and he plays it so well. I really don't understand the bad reviews that this movie got. I guess that some people expect too much. I just love to watch a movie just for what it is. Now I'm not saying, I haven't seen what I thought was a crappy movie. What "I" think is a bad movie. verses other people would probably start an argument. I guess one persons bad movie is another persons good movie. Isn't it great we all don't like the same things???

Not ineresting to me.
I like Richard Gere but this movie is just so-so , it held no interest for me and it was a forced watch through since I bought it on DVD. I should of looked at previews on you tube first . A preview is a good indicator if you will like a movie I just did not care for this film.

Real life behavior
It's a great movie for those who are interested in human behavior. It deals with reality like people buying into someone's impressions and understanding . People often say you don't have an opportunity to make another first impression but an impression is just that , an impression , like the movie says some people just tell lies they live a lie ! Kalifornia is another great movie for people who studying psychology are psychopaths .

Obsessed
Not the best movie. Here is obsessed w/finding a serial killer & loses his job because of it. People advise him to give it up, but he won't

Gere at his best!
Overall, I thought this quite a good film and I don't see how seeing a car drive along a backroad - was it in the desert - makes it similar to a David Fincher film? Errol Babbage (Richard Gere) a sex-offenders case worker is soon to be retired, having managed to fall-out with his boss's, his fellow workers and more or less everyone he has come into contact with. If, or rather WHEN he retires it will be under protest and he is 'given' a 'learner' Allison (Claire Danes) to train-up to take over his work and position. He NEVER relaxes, never has 'down-time' and his cases ARE his life. He is haunted by his failure to investigate and to carry out an effective search of a suspects home which ended with a bad result and when a young girl disappears, Gere goes into overdrive to find her and in doing so causes his 'partner' to weigh up the situation in how he handles himself in the ensuing investigation. Has some very dark moments but the Director Andy Lau turns in a quite good film. Gere and Danes give stand-out performances, well supported by KaDee Strickland among others.

Strong storyline not for the faint hearted
Amazing film, however I am a real fan of Richard Gere throughout his career. Not an easy subject and although Clare Danes got a poor review I thought she was brilliant in this; no one who took part in this film gave anything but a first class performance . It didn't make great headlines for Gere, and was re-named at some point, but if you like him then buy this.

Compelling and underrated.
The Flock is a 2007 American thriller film directed by Andrew Lau. There were numerous issues with re-shoots and the US DVD release differs to the UK one...to be honest, you are better off with the UK one.The film stars Richard Gere and Claire Danes, and the supporting cast is solid - oh and watch out for a cameo by Avril Lavigne. Why, you may say - well, who else could play a jailbait runaway so effectively?A hyper-vigilant agent of the Department of Public Safety Erroll Babbage (Richard Gere) checks on registered sex offenders. Burnt out after a long career, he has become frustrated with the system of sex offender monitoring. With little faith in humanity left he takes on one last job to find a missing girl (Kristina Sisco). He is three weeks away from taking early retirement and his final job is to train his young female replacement Allison Lowry (Claire Danes)....maybe a too good-looking casting choice, but it works within the forbidden fruit weird vibe this film has. After being left a newspaper with his characteristic headline circling, he is convinced the case of kidnapping is connected to a paroled sex offender he's monitoring and he takes it upon himself to find the victim at all costs.Despite the disturbing subject matter of this flim, Claire Danes' character talks about 'the monster staring back'. And that's precisely what makes this film so overwhelmingly fascinating - the monster stares at you, and dares you to watch - it takes the taboo subject of illegal preversions and gives you a portal into it. It's a bit like celluloid methadone.Highly recommended.

This exceeded my expectations.
This is a fantastic movie that never takes its foot off the gas for a second, from its dramatic opening sequins to its nail biting finale it will take you on a rollercoaster ride of YOUR LIFE! Gere plays a fantastic AND CONVINCING role as Mimms Stalwatch an undercover cop with a difference! When he meets and falls in love with Cyborg Cop 'Blinko' played passionately and with a surprising charm by Hollywood Legend Uma Mamima it ceratinly will exceed your wildest expectations.

Too many clichè and a pointless fast editing that ruins the atmosphere and lower the interest in Richard Gere's character
A potentially good thriller that loses its appeal and strenght because of a pointless nervous and fast edit that does not allow viewer to....see the film. Or to feel the drama affecting the main character. So the paradox is that a film about obsessive revenge becomes a common thriller/action full of rough effects, a hasty progression and justapposition of scenes and an abbundance of twists, thinking that viewers must be constantly injected with stuff like that and easy clichè in order not to lose attention. And you end up not caring about Gere's characters.
