Worked fine for one trip. Then, when it was three months old, the battery died and it would not recharge. I emailed the company since it is supposed to have a five year warranty and after two weeks have had no response.

Another customer here with the same charging issue as others have described. Used it about twice and the next time the battery was completely discharged. Despite trying multiple USB cords and connections to outlets and computers, the scale simply will not recharge.

Same experience as others here have had recently. I travel a lot, and loved the scale the minute I received it. Worked beautifully for maybe three months and then one morning while packing to go to the airport one of the clip's prongs sheared off and flew across the room. The bag I was weighing was less than half of what it claims to be able to handle. Contacted the seller here on Amazon, and while nice, was informed that a pic wasn't acceptable and that I needed to ship (from overseas) to them to receive a replacement (which would be shipped stateside and, therefore, of no use to me while traveling the next few months). As that was less than ideal, the seller (again, very nice) directed me to contact the "head office" / distributor in Florida. And so I did. After no reply to me a week after messaging them through their Contact Us page, I called. Seems to be some sort of automated call fowarding service as you'll hear a "please identify who is calling by name" message, and then hold music for maybe a minute before you are hung up on. Tried this two more times later on with the same results. - It's a shame as the scale really was nice and portable ... but 5-year warranty? Ummmm, no. Not even close. So buy at your own risk. There are other nearly identical (and better) options out there for roughly the same price if not considerably cheaper.

I really wanted to love this luggage scale. It seemed well constructed and exactly what I needed to avoid baggage overages, but alas I fell victim not once, but twice to the garbage battery issue. I ordered one of these to find it would not hold a charge and only operate when attached to the charger. I returned it hoping it was a one off defect only to receive another one that had the exact same issue. I mistakenly only checked other reviews after buying this to see that there are around 25% 1 star reviews and most of them are dealing with the same battery issue. This scale seems to meet all of my needs, its rechargeable, its portable, it seems well constructed and easy to use, and from what I had heard Balanzza put the first rechargeable luggage scale out on the market, so I thought this would be the one for me. Unfortunately it was junk. Balanzza should have prided themselves on their first to market status and kept producing a quality product. Instead they put profits over quality and ran their name into the ground. Look elsewhere when buying a luggage scale. This one is garbage.

It worked fine when I got it late February, then 3 months later would not turn on. Charging works in that the red light comes on. Even after leaving it charging for 24 hours, it still will not turn on. Fortunately this happened while at home. It would have been a severe inconvenience if I was travelling at the time, and make the product fundamentally unable to perform its purpose.The Balanzza web site does not have electronic contact information. The return window was one month, so this was a complete waste of money. Be warned! Also trying to get support wasted even more of my time. This is the first experience I've wanted to give zero stars for.Edit: see comments on this review. Someone supposedly from the company claims a 5 year warranty and provided an email address that is not listed on their (proudly not updated since 2008) web site. They never responded to emails, nor did I manage to get anyone on the phone number they provide.

Unit worked great until the first time I tried to charge the battery, then it wouldn't charge and now it's useless.Update: if you're handy and have a soldering iron, I was able to fix mine. There are four screws on the bottom and inside a wire from the battery came un-soldered due to a really poor soldering job. I was able to re-solder this connection and bring my scale back to life. This is a nicer scale than most I've used seems like they just have some QC issues to be worked out.

Broke before we even left home
