Very well put together
I can't believe how many word/image combos they managed to fit in this book! What really surprised me is how all of the images fit together very nicely, too. It looks like they put a tremendous amount of time and effort into creating this. On top of that, the physical quality is really nice, the pages feel durable and they have that clear shiny finish that I enjoy. Overall very satisfied.

Great, informative book!!!
When I worked in a large bookstore, we used to joke about books like this. Were we ever wrong. If you are in another country, and are unable to speak their language, it is much easier to show them a picture of a commode, than to ask them how to find a bathroom!!!This is a DK book (Dorling-Kindersley), and they are phenomenal non-fiction books--whether for children (Eyewitness, etc.) or adult titles such as this one. The pictures are clear, the information concise, and they get the job done like no one else. Their travel guides are exquisite, and language books like this one are pictorial, easy to slip into a purse or pocket, and they answer a need like no one else does. I highly recommend this book (and similar ones for other languages) to anyone traveling.

Great book, some caveats, but still five stars.
This book is great, I gave it five stares because it is such a good book for its essential purpose and I hate ripping a product based on my bias. But there are some caveats.1. The print is very small and hard for me to read in low light. I can read it fine in good lighting, and text that size is not a problem for me on a computer screen. It is clear that this was a decision to make the book portable for travel or living in Russia. I did not take away stars because learning new languages is mostly done by young people with good eyes. But anyone buying this might consider this as a factor. Attached photo show size of book and text compared to an iPhone 6.2. I don't like that the phonetic pronunciation is right below the Cyrillic because it makes it hard not cheat and read the phonetic rather than generate the proper sounds from the Cyrillic. The english word should be under the Cyrillic and the phonetic under the english so it is easier to keep the phonetics out of focus.

a fun book for long-time language dabblers
DK Russian-English Bilingual Visual Dictionary: Over the years, through multiple hobbies, I unconsciously taught myself to read Cyrillic letters. It's great when a converted word is the same or close to an English word. This dictionary is a fun way, late in life, to build some vocabulary. The photos are good but dated. And I especially appreciate the romanized pronunciations. They ensure that I'm not completely misreading the word in Russian. Anyway, the missing star is for the tiny print.

My favorite dictionary company
I didn’t even check the reviews on this because this book creator has never failed me. It has useful phrases on the back that are helpful when learning or traveling, and I always use these books to learn more words in a language. It has pictures too! I have the Japanese, Russian, Korean, and Chinese versions now. It helps me study for the bi-literacy exams! If you are learning a language, it’s helpful to learn the basics then use THIS book to expand your vocab!!

Dr. Johnson would be green with evey.
The Russian -English Bilingual Visual Dictionary is quite a comprehensive volume as these things normally go. I think it is a very good thing overall, with vivid photographs as well as phonic spellings accompanying the English and Russian spelling, I am not sure, however if it would suit a beginner in the language or someone who just needed to ask directions and order a meal. It's thoroughness may prove a little daunting to a novice. This, of course, is my more or less immediate take. On a more positive note, it shear abundance of detail means that you will probably not have to purchase a similar type of dictionary as it seems to contain enough to keep one going for quite a while. Particularly liked the dirty bits near the front.
