GDL Conversion Companion
I bought this book to assist in my examination preparation for the Graduate Diploma In Law (GDL). I found the book very helpful and succinct and it does a wonderful job of introducing the student to the important cases in the GDL course. While the book is not intended to replace the core textbooks on the seven GDL subjects, it does assist the student in understsnding important cases and explains their impact on the English Law.

Conversion Course Companion for Law
The book gives only a short summary of each subject. Very disappointed, the book is printed with lots of mistakes.

Good idea but out of date and needs to be updated
A good idea but out of date and needs updating. For example: Chapter 3 concerns EU law and institutions. The subsections on competition law looks at articles 81 and 82 of the EC Treaty with respect to cartels and abuse of a dominant position. This is no longer correct: the EC Treaty is now the Treaty of the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and articles 81 and 82 are now 101 and 102. Free movement of goods is no longer dealt with by articles 28 and 29 of the EC Treaty, but by articles 34 and 35 TFEU. Rather than using the Continental Can case as the test case for abuse of a dominant position, perhaps the authors should consider Commercial Solvents v Commission as the starting point for non-FRAND, abuse of a dominant position case law? These were obvious to me as I've recently completed a masters degree in Intellectual Property Law, however, students starting the GDL without an IP background would not necessarily be aware of these issues.Given the errors in the EU law chapter, I would expect all other chapters to need updating with respect to both statutes and test cases.
