Russian Classics in Russian and English: Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky (Dual-Language Book) (Russian Edition)

Ambitious project
Any dual language book done in earnest is an ambitious challenge to undertake. My Russian study is deliberate and, as of late, daily, but very casual, so my casual observation is that the translation here is at times a bit breathless and sensational. This might be due to trying capture idioms or due to the page by page synchronization or both. Grab a good dictionary and have fun with it. I use an app called Слово that is truly impressive, a verb dictionary, and the translation app on the iPhone.

Dual Language book very useful for Russian language learners and probably English learners too
I am not posting about the content or the story by Dostoevsky. You can find out about that anywhere. I am reviewing the Dual Language aspect of the book. It is great. Especially for Russian language learners, which I am. I read the Russian side and if I don't understand the gist of it, then I can quickly scan over to the right page for the English translation, which correlates very well with the lines. The translation is also very good. This could probably be used the other way around, for Russian readers to study English.

Une édition étrange (commentaire en anglais)
While I have read many dual language books over the years and have appreciated them for all the benefits they offer, I have never come across an edition with so little information. There is no publisher mentioned anywhere, only the name Alexander Vassiliev is stated in connection with amazon.com and amazon.co.uk where is appears as the "author" of various books. No date or place of publication is given nor any indication on where the book was published. Presumably it was printed in the UK, judging from a tiny address on the very last page, but it doesn't say it explicitly.More importantly, there is no indication whatsoever as to whose English translation is used, which is irritating and annoying and I wonder if it's even legal. I have only started reading the book and as my knowledge of Russian is not sufficient (which is why I need the English text alongside the original) I cannot comment on the quality of the translation. The font is very small and hard to read.
