Dexter Bowling - Mens - Pro Am II

Takes some getting used to.
The toe in front of the slide pad needs to be worn down in order to not have unexpected stops. I was grinding it down by rubbing my foot on the floor quickly(essentially melting the rubber), but this last week I decided to take some sandpaper to it...and that really helped. The rubber itself is ridiculously sticky. If you tap the heel down on the slide foot...you will no longer slide. At all. None. It doesn't leave much room for flexibility, but once I've started to figure out foot placement, it really gives you more control over your slide and stopping where you want to.Great replacement for my mid-grade dexters that I had for almost 8 years...I can only hope these last anywhere near that long. One (very minor) complaint is that the insole is very un-supportive. My feet kind of hurt a bit after my first 2 weeks of bowling with these. I plan on using some off-the-shelf insole replacements going forward to take the harshness out of how these feel. I won't deduct a star for that, as to me getting insoles is almost to-be-expected so that your feet are supported the way you need them to be. I always replace insoles on all my other athletic shoes...so, why not these?

Great beginner shoe
After one bowling season, the slider shoe wore out. Almost did a front flip while releasing the ball during a slide. I took the shoe off and inspected the slider shoe. I discovered I wore out the front tip of the shoe so that the rubber sole would dig into the wood floor. No more slides on this shoe. To fix the problem, i purchased a slip on cloth thingy that restores the ability to slide. Had I known this would have happened, I probably would have purchased a higher quality shoe. Since I'm a beginner, I can overlook the wear and tear. Had I decided to stop bowling, this would have been a good match. However, I plan to continue bowling in the leagues, so i will be looking for a higher quality, longer lasting shoe.

Great shoe for the money
I received these shoes about a week ago and have bowled 36 games with them. They were comfortable out of the box, well made, and definitely performed as expected.I’d recommend these to any one looking to move up from a beginner’s shoe.UPDATE:I have now bowled about 80 games with these shoes. After breaking in, they have gotten better. The slide pad on the right foot and the traction sole for push off on the left shoe is performs perfectly. These shoes have definitely helped my approach to the line a lot. Since getting them my average is up almost 10 pins. I credit this to the consistent push off and slide these shoes give. At this point, I couldn’t be happier. I’m considering buying a second pair as a backup.UPDATE 2:I’ve now bowled over 200 games with these shoes and they show virtually no signs of wear. It seems the more I bowl with them the better they get. I highly recommend them.

Great bowling shoe
I like the fact that they are right hand specific, and also that they appear to be made of high quality materials. I however dislike the fact that I had pancakes instead of waffles this morning for breakfast. Pancakes are lame.

Kind of fell apart
My son switched to these, since he started bowling on his high school team. They are a more durable shoe, and he loves the fit. They slide great. However, after wearing 3-4 times a week for 5-6 weeks, they have a hole in the toe on the right foot. I’ve never seen shoes wear out this fast. We will be getting a new pair again, and going with a different brand.

Good value.
Solid shoes and (at least from my perspective) beginner shoe. I have improved my game and confidence since I started using them a few weeks back for league competition. Adjusting to them took a couple matches after using exclusively house shoes all my life, but once I started trusting them it has paid off greatly. They are very comfortable and feel like regular casual shoes. The grip is nice on the right shoe to help me gain traction to my starting place and solidly displace the weight to my left foot upon release. After getting used to the increased slide I have been able to get significantly more power through my mechanics alone and also comfortably step up from 15 to 16 lb. They're not the most attractive shoes in the world but you'd be asked to go home and change if you showed up in these at Clown College.

Durable shoe. Going on 2 years of bowling 2-3 times per week.
Great shoes for beginners . If you are just starting out, don't buy the cheap slippery $25 shoes. After seeing other bowlers with their interchangable soles, I was worried these wouldn't last long. Granted, I don't slide much, I use a nylon brush to clean these if the lanes are sticky and they accept a tiny amount of EZ slide (if you put on before the league starts of course). They are still kicking after 2 fall leagues, several tournaments and now in their second summer league.
