The Nanny: Season 5

It's The Nanny!
It's The Nanny named Fran ! What's not to Love!

First Class 90s Sitcom
The Nanny is an updated, hilarious, fashionable version of I LOVE LUCY with Jewish Style & a Proud Queer Tongue-In-Cheek "coded" Salute to Old School BROADWAY and HOLLYWOOD; that pretty much NO LONGER EXISTS. If you are a true Television and Pop Culture Fanatic, then you will thoroughly enjoy all the MANY shout out, in jokes, little winks, "easter eggs" and just fun pokes at the Great Entertainers of America's Past and the THEN current artists who were trying to make their mark. Most episodes of The Nanny are filled with outrageous hijinks, romance & sassy, bawdy burlesque humor WITHOUT the cruelty, BITCHINESS, hostility and wimpy, crybaby touchiness that PERMEATES all of entertainment nowadays, in my opinion.I CANCELLED ALL OF MY STREAMING SERVICES and cut the cord to cable over a decade ago. Now I ONLY watch DVDs from my personal, private video library. That way, I save money but more importantly, I KNOW I WILL ENJOY WHAT I WATCH.EEVERY CHARACTER has a valuable part, even the kids. EVERY ACTRESS ON THAT SHOW IS A GEM!!!! Yetta, C.C., even little Gracie who grows up to become a lovely young woman before viewers' eyes- each person in the Nanny Universe has zingers, one liners and engages with the main characters in vital, subtle ways that infuse the stories with heart as well as laughter. Some fans prefer the earlier seasons when Fran & Max were NOT officially a couple. NOT ME. Season 5 is my FAVORITE!!!! It includes their OUTRAGEOUS FIRST DATE, the sweet romantic PROPOSAL, C.C. GOING NUTS because she has to finally accept Fran, NILES is given even MORE goofy, even sexy MANTASTIC yet RuPaul-esque banter & escapades and it ends with the BIG PAY OFF- the exquisite wedding that I remember watching on network TV, channel 3 with my Mom. We both sigh, cried and laughed during the whole episode.IT TOOK FOREVER FOR THIS FABULOUS TV SHOW TO BE RELEASED ON DVD. It rarely gets played/streamed. That does not mean it is unworthy. Talent, artistry, culture, family fun, song & dance, Social Issues like Homosexuality, Interracial Couples, Elderly Couples, Racism, Sexism, Ageism, Generation Gaps and Pop Culture Wars are all touched upon in the series. But it is done in the BEST way possible; NOT preachy, insulting, too political or even overt-- it's all weaved into the dialogue and plot. If you are aware, listening, paying attention, or care- you'll see it, notice, hear the message. But you can also just WATCH & LAUGH, forget your troubles and remember when watch TV wasn't a socio-political movement. Today it feels like whatever channel or station or streaming service or who knows?!?!? you choose, the demand your allegiance to whatever politically correct, millennial mishegoss that has been decided SHOULD BE GET LIPSERVICE/FAKE RECOGNITION. Also, I think people should purchase shows and films they truly love because Hollywood barely exists as a united working group of creators. Now ANYBODY can make a movie or TV show with their phone. It makes the greedy, clueless, profit obsessed businesses rabid about making money off the latest fad instead of being happy to profit off of tried & true works of art that already have a fan base. I don't understand why companies spend more time censoring, burning, trashing, and pulling great entertainment from streaming rosters, store shelves and online archives.ANYWAY...................I LOVE THE NANNY!

The Nanny: Season 5
The package was used, like new. It contained season 5 and season 6 on a total of 6 dvds. The quality was great for a tv show on a dvd, both video and audio. Great price. Very pleased. The wrapper around the case on the reverse side did not contain the listings of each show like the ones on the Season 4 and the Last season 6. Other than that everything was fine.

Hurray for Season Five!!
Many thanks to Shout! Factory - leave it to the guys who founded the original Rhino Records to do the right thing and issue the three previously unissued seasons!! This one's a doozie - including guests like Dr. Joyce Brothers, Harry Hamlin, Brian Setzer, and the amazing Elton John, it's definitely one of Fran Fine's finer seasons.Unfortunately, one of the funniest episodes also includes Michael Bolton as a guest (trying to sing opera, no less, as if he could sing at all). This I could have done without, though the episode redeems itself with a first class plot line.

Fran & Maxwell get together
Watching mr Sheffield dance a commitment is very frustrating however I haven't watched all of season 5 so hopefully we'll see him commit soon. But adult jokes and innuendos go over kids heads so it can be in nice thing to watch if you want to binge watch and your kids are home

I have always loved watching The Nanny when on TV. I had bought Seasons 1-3 and couldn't wait for the day that I could collect the rest of the series. I can't wait for Season 6 to be available to purchase!

Finally!
Thank god these series have been released on DVD. It was so frustrating to only have series 1-3 but now the collection can be completed. Please note this is Region 1 so you'll need a multiregion DVD player if you're out of US.
