The PowerTac E9 is a compact, yet extremely powerful LED flashlight that puts out massive power. Fitted with a CREE XM-L2 LED, the E9 is able to emit a blinding 1020 lumens, when in High mode. Measuring in at just over 5", the E9 is machined from aero-grade aluminum alloy with a military grade hard-anodized finish, making it lightweight and durable. To cycle between the various modes, simply turn the light on using the tail switch, then tap the side switch to change modes. Instant access to strobe is reached by long-pressing the side switch, when the light is off. The E9 will actually automatically memorize and enter the last most used, so there are no surprises. Powering the E9 are either two CR123A or RCR123A batteries, or a single 18650 battery. Being that the E9 is IPX-8 rated waterproof, you don't have to worry if you happen to drop it in a puddle or it begins to rain. Love it
This is my second powertac. I bought the E5 several years ago and love it. Everyone that sees how bright it is usually ends up buying one. I bought 4 of the E5s as groomsmen gifts for my wedding and all the guys went crazy over them. Of course the E9 came out about a month later, but I knew the two were almost identical. Anyways I was wanting a second light for my truck as I keep my other in the house and thought oh well lets try the E9. The biggest improvement is that you can hold the grey button down, even when the light is off, and it will strobe. I also think moving the selector button from the front to the rear was what they should have done to begin with. I put brand new batteries in both and I can barely tell which is which when I turn both on in the dark back yard. I like the more aggressive knurling on the body, and the machined heat sinks. The business end is much more aggressive, I guess to be used as a weapon? The added bonus was the Kydex holster that came with it. My E5 came with nothing, the ones I bought as gifts came with cloth pouches. I mounted the holster next to the seat in my truck and it holds my light great. Its made for (2) of the 123 batteries, or one of the 18650 batteries. I run the rechargable 18650 batteries, I bought some of the higher end Tenergy about two years ago and they are still going strong. The performance on this light is great, but on the higher brightnesses it will go through a rechargable fairly quick if you plan on using it full bright for camping or something.

One of the best flashlights I own
One of the best flashlights I own. This thing is perfect for the field, especially if you're in any leo agency that uses flashlights a lot. You turn it on and there is a little button that switches the modes and whatever mode it's on stays that way even after you turn if off. This makes it really good and convenient. It also has a nice clip and if you're hands are busy you can quickly just attach it to your uniform or body armor. It's a little expensive but it's worth it for the quality and power. I've put this thing through some stuff in the field and it's built very well and sturdy to take the abuse. I got no complaints over the light or the holster.

This is my favourite light
Not trying to win "helpfulness" awards for this one, but I figured I'd tell you a quick story. One day I bought this at a gun show. A year later I lost it. Somehow. Like, I think it may have fallen out of my car in a foreign location. Whatever. Maybe it fell into the black hole of the car. No clue. It's gone.So I went on to Amazon to buy a replacement.

Like this a lot
Like this a lot. I am wrestling with the new design placement of the button that controls the light brightness, strobe, etc. I have my every day carry, and one I like to have at home on my night stand. Hard to adapt between the two. My other one is the older model.

Good light and one of the few 1000 lumen lights ...
Good light and one of the few 1000 lumen lights with a good secondary 500/500+ lumen setting. Quite a few of the other lights have a clear bump down from this secondary setting.
