Very good, but could be better
I use electronic media for most purposes, but this is one of the few exceptions where a book does a much better job than anything electronic. I cannot speak to the accuracy of this particular version yet as I will not be heading out on another adventure for a few more weeks, but if it's anything like previous versions it should be reasonably accurate. However, looking the guide over, I would say I much prefer the quality construction of the older guides with their much heavier paper and spiral binding. I don't think this flimsy, perfect bound (edge glued), newsprint version will hold up nearly as well. They really cheaped out on the quality. Another minor issue is having to jump all over the book to follow an Interstate a long distance because of the way the guide is broken into individual states instead of simply running the Interstate from beginning to end. Also, I'm not really sure why they number the exits in descending order. I guess they think it feels more "map like", but it just seems backwards to me. I'm sure it will work fine though, and I don't believe there to be any current alternatives out there anyway.

Not A Happy Purchaser
I have an older edition of The Next Exit (2012 Edition) which is in spiral form and includes all the rest stops found on the interstates. I was wanting a new edition of the book and ordered this one and I was sad to find it in paper back form with thinner paper, no color on the pages and as far as I can tell, no indications where the rest stops are located on the interstates.I must admit it took me a little while to get use to the 2012 version and how to read the way the book displayed the interstates going through the states, but once I got the hang of it, it was easy to follow. I am NOT liking at all how the newer version is divided simply by states and not the interstate from beginning to end. The newer version is hard to follow. The old statement, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it" holds true with this book. You had a good thing going so why did you try to "FIX" it. Now it is not usable and I will go back to my old 2012 edition. Not a happy purchaser. The book came in in less than a week but it is not what I expected it to be.

We would never travel without it!
We take driving vacations every summer. I'm currently reviewing this while we drive from Texas to Maine. We've been using The Next Exit for so long that I can't remember when we got our first one. I buy a new one every few years. I would never venture far without it. When the kids were little is was so helpful to be able to plan stops. We've used t so long that they know to tell me that they will need a stop in a bit so I can look for the next place. It helped find gas stations, food & motels close to the highway so we minimize the time. When you are driving this far you learn to be efficient. It doesn't help on those occasions where we leave the interstates but we drive so far that the majority of our trips are by interstate. The book is corrected & updated. Last year I marked up my old book because some rest stops listed in the book in Maine were closed. This year's edition removed them. It is well worth the money.

Save your sanity - check this instead of your GPS or smartphone
This beats the GPS and smartphone hands down. We just returned from taking a moving van from southeastern Michigan to the Hilton Head, SC area, and back again. We are not professional truck drivers; we are campers, which is why we bought this. Say what you will about your GPS or smartphone (we had both with us) but this book provides info those can't...like exactly where you can find diesel fuel. Or - at a glance - show which exits have the most services, the towns they're located nearest to, how long between exits, and which way to turn once you get to the end of the ramp. I even used it to figure out exactly we were in when I woke up and hubby wasn't sure (battery was too low in the smartphone to use it.) Seriously, this is the second one of these I've purchased and I wouldn't be caught without one on a long road trip. Keep in mind, it covers ONLY INTERSTATES. So you'll have to rely on that GPS or your smartphone on other roads.

2013 The Next Exit book
I have an earlier edition of this book which I loved and decided to update. Following other's comments I decided against the 2014 edition because of the smaller print and notations. This one is good but like others I wish there were books that followed the highway through states and not the states with highways. I always use little colored stick-on flags when planning my trips (starting with red, yellow for anticipated stops and ending with green for my destination) so I can flip to the right state section as my trip progresses. I like that I can find my preferred lodging and eating in advance as I plan a trip. It works as a solo driver, even better if you have a navigator along with you!

Very helpful guide for long road trips. It made a huge difference in finding gas stations, hotels, shopping and places to eat on a cross country trip. The only time we were disappointed was where the indicators were not as clear as they might have been about restaurants and gas stations that were farther off the freeway. For example, outside of Grand Junction, we pulled off to find a place to eat only to discover that the places listed were two or three miles off the road where we couldn't find them. I only noticed the indicator about the distance later. (my own fault) We ended up finding a great place at a later exit but wasted some time looking for things that weren't there.

Outstanding product!!
I bought my first "Next Exit" book "many" years ago and now upgrade it every 2 years or so. It is so helpful when someone in the car says they "need" a rest top or we are all looking for the next MacDonald's! As expected with such a book, it takes a year or so for a new restaurant or motel to get added to the book. What is not expected is that restaurants and motels no longer in business don't ever seem to be removed from the book. At our local Interstate exit, there are MANY businesses that have not been at this exit for many years!! That is why I rated this 4 stars rather than 5 stars.

A MUST INTERSTATE HIGHWAY GUIDE FOR ALL TRAVELERS!!
"The Next Exit" is an excellent guide for those travelling by vehicle across the United States! One of the best investments I have ever made with a healthy payback. I refer to this interstate highway guide when travelling for both business and pleasure. This guide is very easy to use and very informative when it comes to hotels, restaurants, gas stations etc. My family loves this book as when we travel - all is planned in advance with the aid of "The Next Exit."If you do any travelling in your vehicle in the United State - then this book is for you! Too bad that it does not include Canadian exits!!!

Exactly what I was looking for these last couple of years.
Noon is approching... we tell the kids that right now is to soon to stop for lunch. We will wait for the next exit with a decent place... 11:45.... 12:00 ... 12h15 .... 12:30 and noting. We finally stop at 1pm. Everybody is upset and ungry. This guide will help us to plan our lunch time and gas refill. Easy to understand. To bad, Canada is not in this book. Oherwise, it would have been perfect.

Very Useful
I wish I had seen this years ago. Any one who has ever spent any amount of time on Interstates knows the frustration of pulling off at an exit to find nothing, or worse, driving past an exit to see everything you were looking for disappear in the rear view mirror. Great for finding rest area's exact locations as well (road atlases do show them, but there locations are usually + or - 10 miles.
