Taking a moment to look back at our past sometimes is just as important as looking forward. With this in mind, we've decided we needed to pay homage to the quintessential Carpenter's Hatchet, also known as the "Half Hatchet" or "Rigging Axe". This is our version of the workhorse Grandpa broke us in with: 22oz high carbon steel alloy head sits on an 18" American Hickory handle. This classic tool in probably the most underrated, overlooked essential in any tool box. If you're like us, your work truck doubles as a camper, mud rescue vehicle, grocery getter, and, of course, Zombie outbreak response vehicle. There's no rational reason to leave home without one of these within arms reach. And, of course, 100% Made in the USA!

Look no further.
I purchased the Hardcore Original hammer several years ago. It is The best tool that I’ve ever owned. Nothing else comes close.I happened to be browsing Amazon on a Saturday morning, saw the hatchet, bought the hatchet. Didn’t think twice. This is truly a multifunctional utility tool of the highest quality and finest workmanship.

Buy it once
I own a few other hatchets and some axes and this one is my favorite. It's comfortable in the hand, well balanced, built very well and comes rather sharp. There's not much to say beyond its being a very solid product, especially for the money. Buy it once, take care of it and have a handy tool for a lifetime.

Awesome tool. Has a nice head with good edge retention. Nice balance as well. Feels good in the hand while chopping , although I did add some silicone self-adhesive tape for comfort at the handle. Feels like I could chop all day with it! Chops well , as expected for a hammer ax. Top of the line product

Be prepared
It comes with a coating of on it, very tough to clean off. If you don't clean it off,it will stick in a piece of wood,I'm presently using a Dremel, but, looking like it's gonna take a wire wheel on a bench grinder. The handle looks really thin at the head, time will tell. If you look at the attached photos, you can see one side I have finally gotten clean. The other side is what you need to see,I used a Dremel to start. What a mess!! I'm in the process of modifying the hatchet for bushcraft.

Waste of money
The hatchet only lasted 3 weeks before the head fell off

Hard to clean up
The axe head is covered with thick varnish. Under the varnish there are a lot of heavy milling lines. You have to rework the axe head to get it to look good. Otherwise it's a serviceable carpenter's hatchet that seriously needs sharpening.
