This beautiful necklace is made of a string of tiny pinky red garnet beads, teamed with a fine silver belcher chain. It features a silver heart pendant, adorned with a silver and a garnet bead. It fastens with a silver carabiner clasp. Garnets have been used as gemstones since the Bronze Age, and they are said to have protective and healing powers. The garnet is the birthstone for the month of January, and the zodiac stone for Aquarius. They are also the gemstones traditionally given to celebrate a second wedding anniversary. These 3mm round garnet beads are slightly translucent, and have a colour somewhere between red and a deep pink, rather like a glass of red wine in fact. The overall length is 40cm (just under 16 inches). This sits just nicely on the collarbone, and looks great in the open neck of a shirt, with a boat neck, or with a strapless top.
