A bought a couple of these a while back when I realized that the freebee reusable bags I had received from the grocery store, my local bank, and at other events were falling apart if I tried to wash them. And yet we are advised to wash our grocery bags regularly, especially if you buy meat in packages that could leak. My first few washable bags were still mostly polyester, so still not biodegradable. These, however, are a nice, sturdy cotton canvas that hold up well to washing. After washing I finger-press them into shape and hang them to dry from a bottom edge, which helps them retain a stiff texture. If you tumble-dry them they lose their shape and shrink a bit, but are still entirely usable. They are also a very nice blank canvas. I have used stencils to personalize them and make them recognizable as ours.

Traditional heavy brown paper "shopping bags" with handles have largely disappeared from American grocery stores. In their place we usually find much smaller thin plastic bags which will hold far less merchandise safely. Yes, if any consumers do bother to save and dispose of the plastic properly they may be recyclable and so those are arguably kinder to the environment and less of a burden on our timber forests than paper. But what I have missed is the ability to hold more goods in a single bag which I can carry easily into my home.Thankfully, here is a fine environmentally friendly and indefinitely reusable cotton canvas product which is a wonderful. Unlike many other reusable cheap synthetic bags which I sometimes see available for purchase near my local supermarket's checkout counter, these have traditional shorter handles. This means that I can carry my goods in these high volume bags without risk of dragging it on the ground. And these also have far more durable construction than any other reusable bags I have found - and I definitely have looked!If you carefully view the photos, you'll see the handles are heavily stitched through the double thick 1" tall upper hems sewn around of the bag openings. I have no concerns about these ever failing, even when filled with the heaviest load which I could possibly carry in one hand. That is important to me and was definitely not my experience with any paper, plastic or even cheap reusable synthetic bags!And, these bags can easily be folded flat again. So, unlike more bulky general purpose totes, these will take up little space when you carry one or two into your supermarket. You might find cheaper bags, possibly even made of similar fabric, but I doubt you would ever find a comparable substitute with the fine construction of these... and none I have found are structured with the deep, time proven "shopping bag" proportions of these. They are virtually the same dimensions as a tall paper (1/6 bushel?) bag which I had recently measured at a local store as a point of reference.My purchase shipped immediately and arrived very fast. The bags came carefully folded and wrapped within the shipping container which ensured there would be no unwanted soiling of the fabric even during transit. These are durable bags which I will certainly use often, so minor soiling of the light color natural fabric may occur... but of course these are also washable! And, as another reviewer had remarked, I too have already gotten compliments on the bags, both from a store cashier and from an envious nearby shopper.I would highly recommend these great USA made bags to anyone.

I researched lots of bags, to buy a volume for the grocery store. Wanted bag to be easily washable to keep things clean in the grocery store (bigger bulker ones are hard to wash). Wanted a shorter handle, not to drag bags. I bought two sets, to take to the grocery store. Canvas is medium weight, I'll not want to try to overload. (gave them 5 stars sturdy and durability because were clear with canvas weight). Can load weighr-wise comparable to the plastic grocery bags. Can load to the top (bigger than plastic) with bulky light weight stuff. They are everything they promised to be. They arrived earlier than planned--complete with handwritten note if thanks on invoice! Bonus is US made. Will definitely buy again. But only for other needs than groceries because I expect these to last well.

I use these bags (when I remember to bring them) for grocery shopping. They are very strong and carry quite a bit. They are a little bulky when folded up, and folding them isn't super-easy, but it's not a chore. I like the fact that they can be machine-washed. They even have little "ears" that the checker can loop over the hooks that hold the disposable plastic bags for easier filling. I get a lot of admiring comments about them; I would buy them again.

I'm so glad I happened across these cotton canvas shopping totes from Turtlecreek. I couldn't have hoped for a more perfect product to suit my shopping needs. These totes are the same size and design as paper grocery bags but far more durable.

I like the bags, they're exactly what I was hoping for. Just one thing.... they were shipped in a plastic bag. The other reusable stuff I've bought has either come in a cheap burlap bag or tied together with twine.If it weren't for the plastic, I would have given them 5 stars.

These are good. I’m putting them in the dryer and yes, they shrink, but they are still a good size for groceries. Since I wash my grocery bags after every use, hanging them to dry every time would be ridiculous - they take forever to dry. I’m happy with them.

Four of these are large enough to handle my grocery shopping for a week. They are sturdy. I would wrap wet products in a plastic bag before putting them in these canvas bag. Having said that, I got the bags to eliminate use of plastic and these bags are washable. I would buy again.
