Hagar the Horrible is the title character in an American comic strip that first appeared in 1973. The strip is set in the Middle Ages in an unnamed coastal village somewhere in Norway and centers around the humor of his interactions with his longship crew or his family. In addition to Hagar the other frequently seen main characters are Lucky Eddie, Helga his wife, Hamlet his son, Honi his daughter, the pet duck Kvack, and the loyal dog Snert.
