Q: How long are each of the times?

The time can vary case by case depending on how fast the water boils. That is why boiling eggs by counting seconds was always a hit or miss game. On the other hand, because the color of the egg timer changes based on water temperature, the egg timer delivers consistent results. For hard boiled eggs, as Michelle mentioned, just take the eggs out when the egg timer turns white. We recommend leaving hard-boiled eggs to cool at room temperature. Q: What type of plastic is used on this?

The material used is high quality polyresin blend, resistant to high temperatures, made for compliance to FDA standards and EU standards for food-contact materials. Additional lab testing was conducted to confirm that the material does not contain any BPA, BPS or BPF. Hope this is helpful.

Q: How long are these expected to last? A couple months or a couple years?

We expect NobleEgg Egg Timer Pro to last several years. This version was released in September 2019. During this period, we have had only a few reports about egg timers splitting along the seam line. This may be due to a hidden defect or not following the directions. However, all those customers that contacted us and some of those that we managed to contact via feedback, have received replacements. If you are having issues with your NobleEgg Timer(s), please reach out to us through direct messaging/email and we will send you a replacement. Otherwise we rarely can contact a customer via their feedback only.

Q: I boil my eggs in the microwave. I’m assuming this won’t work for that, will it?

You will not be able to see the egg timer when boiling eggs in the microwave oven. The egg timer does not produce any alarm sounds. You have to visually observe when the color changes to the desired marking to stop the cooking process. We did not design the egg timer to work in the microwave. Moreover, because a microwave works by a different principle and cooks an egg differently, we doubt that the egg timer would be accurate in this particular case.
