A Must Buy for Fans of the Gamecube Controller.
I was a little reluctant to purchase this after seeing that a lot of people were saying that this product is not compatible with Wii Motion Plus remotes and I can confirm that it is NOT true. This product lets you use your Nintendo Gamecube controller in place of the Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro. There is no input lag on this device at all and the packaging tells you on the back what the buttons are mapped to, the only button that the Gamecube controller would be missing is the "ZL" button so not every game is 100% compatible but most games that support the Classic Controller will be. I tested this on a 3rd party GC controller (Nyko Airflo) as well as the official Nintendo GC controller and had no problems at all. Despite what the packaging says, the Gamecube controller CANNOT work as a Wii U Pro controller, and the device DOESN'T support the rumble feature that the GC controllers used because of being read as a Classic Controller. A list of Wii U games that support the Classic Controller can be found on the internet, also you can look on the back of the game's box to see if it supports them, I had tested this device on a standard Wii remote, Wii remote with external motion plus add on, and a Wii remote that had motion plus built in(Wii Remote Plus) and it worked flawlessly on each of them every time. I had played Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, Rayman Legends Challenge app, and Super Smash Brothers Brawl and all of those games were able to use the GC controller at its fullest. There is also a turbo button feature that you to map any of the buttons to (Only one button at a time though), but I used this just long enough to see if it worked and it did. The only problem that I had with this product was that the GC input seemed a little loose but not enough to pull the plug out by accident so I can't take off for that. I recommend this device to anyone that likes the GC controller and want to use it in the upcoming Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8. I will definitely be purchasing more of these devices and more GC controllers in the near future. Purchased from TOTALCONSOLE. EDIT: UPDATE 4/5/2014 I am still using this product and at almost a year later it is still going strong. I have come to love this product so much that I have ordered 3 more of these adapters in prep for Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart 8. I play Super Mario 3D World often and the Gamecube controller in my preferred way to play... Despite missing the "ZL" button it has the "ZR" button and both of them have the same function in this game so you will be able to get the most out of the GC controller in SM3DW. I also forgot to mention its compatibility with games on the Virtual Console... All I can say is that it works! EDIT: UPDATE 4/14/2014 I mentioned in the last update that I had purchased 3 more adapters, and I have been testing them. I can still say that this product is great! I tested all of them with several different GC controllers and they never gave me any problems... The 3 extra adapters worked just as well as the first one that I bought a year ago, but I also noticed they all had the same problem... I mentioned in my initial review that the adapter that I received had a loose input. The other adapters also had the same loose input, but once again I did not have a problem with it slipping out of the port with natural playing... With that said I tried moving erratically and was able to cause the controller to become unplugged, my suggestion is to just not get too into the game! My 5 star rating still stands as I have never had any problems out of this product, the loose input was worth looking into because of the many reviews on Amazon that mention it as a major flaw with the device, and it does seem to exist with all of these units. EDIT: UPDATE 6/2/2014 Nintendo has now announced their own Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U and Super Smash Brothers, but I think as it will only be compatible with that game (as of when it launches). Nintendo may come out with updates for older games such as Mario Kart 8 to officially support Gamecube controllers, so as of now consumers can still find use out of the Mayflash adapter in games that support the Classic Controller including Mario Kart 8 and most Virtual Console titles. Also, as of this update all four of my adapters still perform perfectly.

Didn't work. It didn't work!
We bought this in order to play Super Smash Bros on our Wii U. We start the game up and it didn't work. One of them connected and it seemed okay, for some reason the other refused to recognize it. Okay, try another remote, it connects, we hit start. nothing. hit it rapidly it until it goes, characters come up....then they just start moving on their own. We run left, and it just stops sometimes. The b button went off at random. I don't get it. Given that we purchased two of them I think its safe to say we didn't just get two defects, and the product is unstable. I would suggest not buying this, IT DIDN'T WORK, simple as that, returning right now.

Perfect for Brawl
I've switched all of my Wii playing to the Wii U since its WiiMode upscales to 1080p and you have the added benefit of a digital signal through HDMI versus the not as crisp component image of the original Wii. One of the downsides was no longer being able to play Super Smash Bros. Brawl with a GameCube controller; it's always felt awkward to me to use a Classic Controller for this game, having played so many years of Melee. This adapter fixes that problem and far as I can tell is highly responsive with no lag or cutting out even with my Japanese import white GameCube controller with a six-foot cord. WaveBirds work great as well, so long as nothing is blocking the path from the controller to the receiver. (WaveBirds had this problem even on the GameCube itself.) The only slight annoyance is the function of the Start button: pressing it once acts as the Select (-) button on a Classic Controller, so you have to rapidly press it twice to have it actually work as a Start (+) button. It's not a huge problem, and it makes sense to do it this way if you intend to use it for any Virtual Console games that have an important in-game use for Select--like Super Metroid, for example (Select to switch weapons)--but it can feel a little tedious when all you wanna do is choose a game mode or pause the game and needing to press it twice. Apparently this adapter has troubles with Wii MotionPlus remotes. I've not tested it with one, but just passing that along. I own two of these, ordered six months apart, and both were sold by TOTALCONSOLE (fulfilled by Amazon) as they usually have the lowest price. No problems where that's concerned. Now I can Brawl with a friend. Save the cardboard back of the packaging so you have the instructions on how the Start button and Turbo functionality work.

The price needs to be less..
(Im not sure if this it the same page i bought this product from, so please trust me even if this doesnt say im a verified buyer of the product) I got this adapter to play smash 4 and my VC games with my gamecube controller on my Wii U and it works great. However, smash 4 will be the main reason that people order this device since the official gamecube adapters are still sold out, but this price is really not worth it, youre paying for that extra usage for Virtual console whether it be in wii or Wii u mode, and maybe a few wii games like SSBB or Mario Kart Wii. But with that you get a few frustrations, like a very, very minor case of input lag, and the inputs for the start button. See, the start button represents 3 buttons based on how it's pressed and it's annoying to get used to.. One tap is Select (it really should of been start instead) Two taps is Start Holding down the button is the home button. Oh yes, I forgot to mention this treats your gamecube controller as a classic controller, hence why it plugs into the wiimote. Mayflash themselves have made a clone GCN adapter much like nintendo's that works the same way and works on PC as well Out the box for nearly the same price, but you won't be able to use your controllers for VC, I recommend that if you get this for mainly smash 4, if not this works great for wii mode games, but if that's all its gonna be used for, wait till the price lowers.

Best and only adapter for Gamecube on Wii U
So my title describes this adapter very well, though the adapter is actually quite good. At first when I tried it out by connecting it into a Wii remote and then plugging in a controller, the cursor was slowly moving toward the top of the screen. I simply unplugged the adapter (leaving the controller attached) and plugged it back in again. Usually this is a common problem when the joystick is offcenter when the controller is connected, but this time that wasn't the case. Despite this connect and reconnect, it hasn't happened since. The responsiveness despite going from a controller, through the adapter, through the wii remote and back to the Wii U is still very precise and responsive. I was very impressed. Because the adapter is emulating a classic controller, the start button does need to be pressed twice quickly to function as a typical "START" button press. Pressing and holding the same button for several seconds will bring up the HOME screen. This isn't a problem at all in game and is just an fyi for anyone purchasing this adapter, as this is the way it has to be. With that said, this is a great controller and is highly recommended if you prefer your Gamecube controller and plan on picking up Smash Bros and or Mario Kart next year. This adapter works for any and all things from Wii U games supporting the Classic Controller to Wii mode on the Wii U and everything supporting the classic controller there. Also works well on the original Wii, should you simply need to have the controller used in a location that is further than the cable would reach the Wii.

Registers as a Wii Classic Controller, NOT a Wii U Pro Controller
Let me just start by saying what this actually is, because the description is incomplete and partially wrong. This device plugs into a Wii Remote, and allows for a single Gamecube controller to be plugged into it, where it registers as a Wii CLASSIC CONTROLLER. It will work anywhere a Classic Controller will, except that it will be missing a button (ZL), rendering it useless for new games that require it. It will also NOT work in games like ZombiU, where ONLY a Wii U PRO CONTROLLER works. Certain new games like Injustice have support for Classic Controllers, so technically this can still be used in many circumstances where Pro Controllers can be used, but the description is inaccurate in saying that it will work EVERYWHERE that a Pro Controller will. The button mapping on this adapter is decent, with most mappings being obvious. A, B, X, Y, L, R, the D-Pad and the left analog stick of the Classic Controller are mapped to the same on the Gamecube controller. ZR is mapped to Z and the left analog stick is mapped to the C-Stick, as expected. The Start button on the Gamecube controller, to my surprise, is actually mapped as Start (+), Select (-) AND the Home button, depending on how you use it. A quick tap is Select, a double tap is Start, and a long press is Home. This can lead to some awkwardness in most games, since you have to double tap it to pause. In quick games like Smash Bros this can be especially annoying to remember at a moment's notice, but the rest of the controller seems to work fine. It is also nice that the 3 center buttons were accounted for, since there's only one on the Gamecube controller. This leaves the one main flaw of the design to be the lack of a ZL button. For pretty much all Virtual Console and most Wii games this shouldn't be a problem, but for things like Injustice, where EVERY button has a purpose, it will mean that you can't functionally do everything you should be able to. So far I have tested this controller in several games and it has worked well, but, as another reviewer pointed out, it has a tendency to wig out and do weird things randomly, although this mostly seems to occur when switching between software. In-game I have not yet had this problem, and when it happens a quick unplug and replug in seems to fix it. I have only used this with my Wii Remote Plus right now, so clearly it is compatible with the new units. Since this adaptor plugs into a Wii Remote (not the Wii/Wii U itself, as diagrams seem to suggest), it is effectively wireless, but the cord on it is absurdly long, considering it's plugging into ANOTHER cord (the Gamecube controller cord). This could probably reach my TV from 15 feet away, which seems unnecessary. Since it's wireless, I would expect some lag that a corded Gamecube controller would not encounter when plugged directly into a Wii, so you really shouldn't bother using this if you are on an original Wii and can do without. And of course you should never plug a Wavebird controller into this, since it's already wireless (and it may not even work). I have not used the Turbo yet, nor do I really intend to, but the turbo light has blinked a couple of times while in use, leading to the controls twitching and being stupid. Overall, to summarize, this is a decent buy for someone looking for a nice alternative to a Classic Controller for Virtual Console games and things like Smash Bros, but the occasional bugginess and lack of ZL button make it a bit finicky and unreliable at times. Again, this will NOT work as a Wii U Pro Controller, contrary to the description, and is not fully useable in some new games where Classic Controllers are the only controllers allowed.

Disappointment
Got this the other day, seemed too good to be true, I can use a GC controller for SSBB again!!!!! Well turns out it was. I picked it up and it felt cheap, its only 15$ so i didn't expect much more than that. I plugged it into the wii remote and it fit tightly. I then plugged in my GC Wavebird controller and it was so loose in the notch it looked as if it would slip out if i held it up, Well 15$ right? Turned on the WiiU went to the Wii panel and, while it took a while to work it did, so i selected a game, started a single player mode and started playing. That is, for about five minutes. Then it kept repeating an input (forcing me to go right left up down etc.) forever. To fix this problem I had to restart my Wii and launch the game, blah blah blah. I was on the loading screen and it happened again. This proceeded to happen around 6-7 times before I was done with it. It might work with the normal GC controllers but i'm sure not buying more just so I can use something that lets me use them.

Works as advertised - UPDATE: works with DDR!
This works as advertised, my friends loved being able to use their gamecube controllers for Smash or Mario Kart. Buttons mapped as expected, plug and play just like the ClassicPro controllers I have. Note: the DDR game I got won't work with this for a dance mat because the game only looks for a gamecube port, not a classic controller dance mat. Update: After finally finding an old wii I could borrow, I figured out how the DDR game actually works (which isn't documented in the manual very well at all). To complicate matters, my mat had an issue with it's plug so it only intermitantly connect to the gamecube port (which I found when I got to try it on a real Wii without the adapter) Directions for DDR: You CAN use it on the new (black) Wii that lacks Gamecube ports but it REQUIRES this GameCube to Wiimote adapter GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii & Wii U note you CAN NOT play the full game with Choreograph mode because that requires "real" gamecube ports to use the wiimote at the same time. You can play in "Classic" mode with the DDR mat only. To make this work on the new wii: 1. you will need to start the game and let it run through the initial "tutor" thing that isn't mentioned in the guide. Just leave it alone for 5ish minutes and it'll eventually prompt you to press A and reach the main menu. This was very confusing. 2. select the menu for "Dance Mode" 3. Select # of players 4. Pick a record/guest 5. Select game mode (only tried "normal") 6. CHANGE the mode to "Normal" - you can't use choreograph on the new wii with the gamecube to wiimote adapter plugged in because you can't have both the mat and nunchuck plugged in at the same time. 7. Select a song and the DDR mat should control the arrows.

Great at what it does.
Recently bought this after finding out that despite being able to download gamecube games for my Wii, the Wii that I own does not have any actual ports for gamecube controllers, making it impossible to play the games I downloaded. This cost me around like 20$, and works fine. One end plugs into the back of your Wii Controller (where the nunchuk usually goes) and the other end is where the gamecube controller plugs in. The cord is long, and in addition to the cord of your gamecube controller, means it can easy span the length of a living room or whatever is needed. The gamecube controller doesn't fit super snugly into the port on it, and is a bit loose, so if you gave it a really good tug I'm sure it could pop out, but it hasn't been an issue for me at all. All in all, this is a great product, albeit for a very specific use. If you play games a lot, you will probably go through batteries very fast, but that has always been an issue with the Wii. If you find yourself in a similar situation to me, buy this, and you won't regret it.

The true classic controller in my Opinion is the Official Gamecube Controller.
Works 100% as a classic controller so be warned it only works for games that support he Wii Classic Controller and Wii Classic Controller Pro.Super Mario 3D world is more suited for the Pro version rather than the original classic controller because it only supports the back shoulder buttons ZL and ZR for crouching and long jumping so on the Gamecube controller you'll need to use the Z button to crouch and long jump. The Turbo function works well and is easy to setup and turn off but I don't really need it.It works perfectly with all the games I have that support the classic controller like brawl and Mario Kart Wii and Mario kart 8.Some games don't support the Pressure sensitive function on the original classic controller like brawl so I recommend changing your Y button to shield if you use the shield allot but the shoulder buttons work fine when you click them in.I play tested this controller on my Wii U on a 32 inch TV and I can't see any lag issues of any kind.
