On her first four records, Dienel projected her fears and fantasies onto imaginary characters, role play, and lush atmospherics. If Kairos was a work of atmosphere, then Baby sits at the opposite end of that spectrum. Baby is about song craft. It is forceful, rooted in the physicality of the voice, percussion and piano, and it is about getting straight to the point. It is the past three years of her life distilled into song: joy, heartbreak, frustration, longing, disappointment, anger, and loss accumulated, poured out and reborn in this new, unflinching release.

No reviews? I guess i'll start.
Probably as most people I was lured into this album by the single, Ring the Bell. One important thing to note is that an artist like White Hinterland is someone that grows on you, even if she sounds weird at first. Many of the songs at first sound off beat, but give a 2nd or 3rd listen and you'll start to get a feel for the structure of the songs. And having listened to her other albums, I would have to say this one just seems to be the most interesting of them all.Now I don't know how exactly to review music but I do like to listen a lot, so I will offer some comparisons to other artists, and if you like those, you'll probably like this album.BjorkRadiohead (pretty much almost every album from OK computer and beyond)Dirty ProjectorsBasically what a lot of these artists have in common whether or not you like them, they break a LOT of conventions. At first I wasn't that much of a fan, but as I gave it a few more listens, I absolutely LOVE this album.
