So glad I bought this book. Excellent coverage of topic.

There is a lot of great information in this text. Some if it will stay relevant for a long time and some of it is already outdated. But as IT literature this was a pretty easy read and explains many high level concepts.

Perfect book for learning UCS

Got me started to understand UCS

This book is different from all the other books that I read from Cisco press.The authors didn't spend the right time time to prepare the material for this book, rather than every few pages you'll find a hint that this part of the chapter is written by Qlogic, Intel or any other vendor.This book contains information related to developer engineers working in the field of microprocessor but for whom are working in the field of field or design engineering this book methodology is totally far from what we're seeking of.I was assuming that I'll find a plenty of information regarding the design of UCS infrastructure but only 2 chapters are discussing this part & even not well written.Anyway, I like Cisco press books & this's why is whatever written from them, I like to read it before going to another press company.

I had the chance to work in a new data center environment. We bought some UCS so I had to read that book and if I had to say a word about it, it would be : G R E A T !As I said in the title, many of us are old enough to see how the DC evolved since 2000. There are so many technology and products that are now used. Cisco tried to get into the server market with the UCS and all I can say is that I m glad they did :)The first chapter gives a "brief" explanation about Data center and their challenge.Chapter 2 is more based on the UCS architecture:This will be easier to understand for System admin than pure network engineer :) I loved that part very much because lots of diagram and picture are explaining how the hardware works.Then after this "light" part, the authors are diving into the technology.All the technologies that are part of the UCS are very well detailed :10gig, FCOE, PFC, Virtualization etc etc.This book also introduce some 10gig controllers made by Intel.The way the book is written helps you to master the topics. Even for non native english speakers, it is very easy to understand ...If you are interested in UCS or going to implement into your network, this is definitely the book you need to read from cover to cover !

Hello everyone,I would like to give you my feed back after I purchased this book and i almost went 3/4 through the information it talks about. Honestly, I was expecting a book that talks more about Cisco UCS Management and the Cisco UCS Emulator, however most of the time the book was "General talk about the Cisco UCS modules and components".I am not saying the book is not worthy, however if you are looking for something more technical information related to Cisco UCS, this book won't help you.If you intend just to discover what Cisco UCS is and what stays behind the title, then it is OK.SincerelyIvaylo
