You must not put much pressure on it because it's quite sharp. But I found because it was so sharp it's didn't take much effort to remove the dead skin on my feet. I bought this product because I was tired of the nail salons talking me into spending extra money on foot scrubs and callous removal. This tool was comfortable to hold and definitely did remove the dead skin. The reason I gave it four stars instead of 5 is because I felt I had to use it pretty vigorously to achieve the result I wanted. I know other reviewers mentioned how sharp it was, but I actually felt it could have been a little sharper. I do love that it was a hole in the handle so It can easily be hunG up on my shower caddy to dry after rinsing it off. Overall it was a good buy because I can save time and money at the nail salon and keep my feet smooth in between pedicures Must have for flip flop season!

This is the same file they use at the salon when you get a pedicure and it works wonder, especially if you have calluses or thick skin on your feet. Warning do not scrap down to far because this file is extremely sharp and will cut. Best if used with some type of scrub or ointment.
