I removed the dough, thinned it out, and tried again, and again, same result. Only when I loaded the press with about 1/4 cup of extremely soft and mushy dough would it form a cookie. However, the dough was so soft that it wouldn't hold its shape. The dough in question is in the oven now being baked as a bar cookie, and the VillaWare is on its way to the trash. Moral: don't buy the VillaWare unless you're willing to spring for a replacement next year. It's a waste of money if you're looking for a product that lasts. I had a power corded press which was great, was lost in a fire. This press was re-chargable, and made by a manufacture who's products had been in my family for several generations. I follwed the directions exactly for making Spritz Cookies, during the third tube full of dough the press began to malfunction and not operate as stated in the owners manual. The instruction book said the press would do about 800 cookies,and to charge the press for 24 hours. I tried plugging it in and the plunger would just spin and not push any dough down. The plunger would not push any dough down through the barrel and the motor sounded funny. I took the press apart and found marks on the plastic plunger that rotated to push the dough down the barrel.
