Why The Long Face: A Book About Thumb Sucking Paperback – December 4, 2013

Great tool in the arsenal to help my 8 year stop thumb sucking. We made a sticker chart and bought and used Mavala Stop to paint on her thumb nail. This book helped her with reasoning through the questions about "why" she had to give up her beloved thumb! The story really resonated with her. She went around asking if her face was getting long from sucking, like the girl in the book. The physical measures we took addressed one side of the process, but this story helped her emotionally and cognitively.

While the clinical analysis of facial patterns changing is accurate, the analogy of a child and a horse is terrible! I wouldn't read it to my child.

This book helped our daughter to stop sucking her thumb!
