Professor Kelly S. Worden is a lifelong martial artist and began his personal defensive training in western boxing at the tender age of eight years old. Since that time, he has trained in a multitude of systems. Kelly Worden Training Tools and Self Defense Products Mr. Worden has produced dozens internationally acclaimed instructional video programs and is the inventor of the popular self-defense tools: The Travel Wrench, The Saf-T-Wrench, Silent Fighter Training Dummy Simulator, and the WORTAC Tactical Knife. Additionallyhe dedicated many years as the “On the Edge” radio talk show host, authored countless articles on reality based self-defense, weapons training and was a former editor for Full Contact and Fighting Knives Magazines. This 2-disc DVD set is the easiest-to-learn, most effective way to learn self-defense with a walking cane. Anyone can do this: No martial arts or self-defense experience needed. We boil it down in an intuitive and practical way. It's highly effective: Learn defensive techniques that will stop an attacker cold and help you protect yourself and the people you love, and to escape safely. It's easy to learn: Begin to be proficient in under an hour, adapt the skills to you as needed. Add an hour of practice, and watch your skills grow exponentially. It's always handy: If you need a walking cane, your covert self-defense tool is already ready to use. The same skills are transferable to other items. Maybe it’s an umbrella, tactical baton, hiking pole, or if you are a cop, an ASP baton.

Good Stuff
This 2 disk set is great for those in fairly good physical shape. I am 58 and in generally good condition. I can do this. To say that an elderly 70 year old can do this is not realistic and I don't see any advertisement or claims that this is the case. This set includes the simple basics in the first disk then the more involved actions in the second disk. This is easily worth the price. There are no holds, kicks, or flips in this set. This is simply a lesson basic in cane self defense that many can use.I will be buying other cane self defense sets from Amazon, but I am perfectly happy with this purchase. As I said this is good stuff and I highly recommend it.

Good basic intro to stick fighting, may be too basic for some. Parents should know some vulgar language.
The pro and con for this DVD set is that it is basic and easy for those new to the topic. Before the 1st DVD is done, you will know a series of ten strikes that are easy to learn and perform. However, the 2nd DVD adds almost nothing useful to that. So, considering I spent just less than ten greenbacks on the set, I think it deserves four stars and is a good, simple introduction to defensive cane techniques. Right now I see the set is listed at around three times that amount, and I don't think it is worth that much. Please note: for some reason the instructor in the DVD decided to use a coarse term for the groin area and a few other vulgar words, mainly in the first 20 minutes or so of DVD one. I have heard worse, but it seems unnecessary/unprofessional and I mainly mention it because I was going to have my young kids (who are into martial arts) watch the video with me, but I don't really want them hearing that.

Simple Real World Instruction
Kelly presents the material in a light hearted great teaching style. The techniques are easily learned just by watching and applying in the living room to develop muscle memory. I've used a cane for years due to injuries, but now believe I can defend myself with this durable piece of medical equipment. This is a great video for those who are weakened by injury or illness or are of old age.

Better than a book
As a 66 y/o male who hobbles around with a cane, I figured that there must be a system established for use of a cane as offense & defense for personal protection. A video of martial arts movements is certainly easier to understand than a book. But neither comes close to personal instruction. There are a few Dojos across the country that teach cane fighting & defense technique, as distinct from escrima and bow staff, but none in my area. With no Sensei available for in person instruction,I settled for a video. this one is fairly basic and easy to follow. My only fear is getting in over my head on the street

Product Review
This video set is well created, easy to follow and to the point with basic skills and concepts. If you have a background with weapons you will be able to apply smoothly. If you don't have experience, with a little perseverance and practice you will be able to apply most techniques.

Some good points, some bad...
Being retired military (Navy) I for some reason was selected for such duties as Shore Patrol and did a stint as a ride along for the Arned Forces Police and the information provided here was close to the classes I went through then. What is provided here proved itself to be very effective and workable. The only real rub I have is during the demonstrations, the older participant seems to be using a powder puff approach.... Strikes in my opinion are intended to "snap" into the opponent, not in the way that individual shows. As you train so you fight, and doing as was portrayed would only cause you to go down hard...

Excellent instruction
This set is well worth the money. Very clear instruction that follows a simple, logical progression. You don't have to me an expereinced martial artist to follow this set. The production quality was good, I feel that this would be of value to anyone who wants to carry a walking stick or cane for self defense, whether they're a practising martial artist or someone who needs a cane for mobility.
