Not Very Responsive Versus Cost
I decided on a mid-range rating to be fair at this point for the reasons stated as follows:You should know that, though I was told by the vendor in a rather terse and lecturing manner to my inquiry, the item description stated that it has both a long lead time and takes quite a bit of time to hand assemble by an unspecified someone somewhere. It is not available "off-the-shelf". I thought that I read things thoroughly and went back again to read the write-up without finding anything about "long lead time" or "hand made" there. So neither of these facts were apparent to me during and after ordering. Still, when I wrote to the vendor to ask about the approaching front end of a one week stated range delivery date they responded to me that it ("long lead time") is there. They also refused to indicate if the front date (of the range) could be met. I did not find the responder to be very customer service oriented. As stated and to add, I confess that I have not yet received the item and that it (the delivery date) is not in the stated date range (by a few days). With that fact stated however, I do not expect to receive this item in a reasonable amount of time if for no other reason than shipping time as of this date for an item of this size. The fact that the "front end' of the system consists of an array of two (2) four (4) inch diameter by ten (10) inch long 4 micron sediment filter and activated charcoal filter units that have a normal use of about one (1) year means that these must be monitored and replaced religiously to prevent damage to the reverse osmosis membrane filters. I have also investigated membrane filters for the unit and can state that you may also run into some issues when ordering them especially the "top end high efficiency" units of which there are three (3) at around $325 each. On the other hand, I understand that, depending on use, they may last up to two (2) years so there is time to work on that potential issue. This unit (1000 gallons per day (gpd) or .69 gallons per minute (gpm)) uses 3/8 inch fittings while a standard house/building system fitting is 1/2 to 3/4 inch. This makes the connection somewhat restrictive which might be good news for water pressure. However connection to a back end demand storage system tank of, say, forty-two (42) gallons would be necessary in order to closely approximate the output rate for one (1) hour of production. The three-thousand (3,000) gallons per day (gpd) or 2.08 gallons per minute (gpm) units have standard house/building system fittings for easier installation. However these units are, on average approximately, half again as expensive, larger in size, and the reverse ossmosis membranes are larger in diameter and length which also causes a price increase. As I seem to be the first commentator on this item, I will provide further commentary about this product as time passes and after it is installed so that subsequent potential or actual customers can understand what happens. The price is rather high and any information that can be acquired might be appreciated. There is quite an array of optional features that are available on these RO units though you cannot, at this site, acquire them. One of them, an extra cost feature item, is a replacement for the standard brass pump which is made out of stainless steel. This item might be necessary in areas where the water is highly corrosive. However you cannot order this option at this site.
