I think it has an innovative design where the two pieces are the same, but it fits together as the case and can be opened as a card tray.I honestly didn't try this with a standard deck of 52 cards. I bought it to use for playing Uno and quickly realized that my set of Uno cards was too larger for this carrier. I finally gave up and accepted that there isn't a case for my Uno cards and sewed my own in fabric. I've had some decks so long that their cases ended up being held together by more tape than cardboard, so that's why I wanted to try out a more durable alternative for my recently acquired Princess Bride themed deck.With the Card Caddy, the plastic feels incredibly strong, and while it's not quite as satisfying as sliding your deck out of its normal case, it's very easy to open and retrieve your cards. The big hole in the center does make it possible for debris or water to get into the case, and damage your cards, but that won't be too much of an issue for your average user. I got my Blue Card Caddy and at first glance noticed the quality of the plastic was flawed. The top layer of the plastic was peeling/bubbled in some spots and the hole on one side wasn’t formed correctly. Other then the aesthetic problems the case works great. It snappes together fine to keep your cards safe. When open the deck holder and card disposal spot slide together perfectly and performs as intended.
