A must read!
As much as I read, you would think I would know about this author! But, no. My daughter brought home the first in this series and quickly devoured it. Upon her recommendation I read it. Just had to get the 2nd one! If you like clean murder mysteries, the Cape Refuge series will not disappoint! I am usually pretty good at figuring out "who done it?" But Terri Blackstock is a masterful story teller that weaves the characters' lives so fully, I was hard pressed to guess correctly before she revealed the clues! And, even if you do guess correctly, there is always an unexpected twist!Read this series in order. Each book is complete, and could stand on its own, but you will get a fuller picture of the characters, their lives, and each person's place in the setting. I highly recommend this series! She also has some stand alone novels which I have placed holds on at the library!

Book 2 in the Series
Cade hits a person with his vehicle and the man dies. Cade is now missing and Blair is really worried. He's last seen with a mysterious woman. Jonathan starts to become concerned.Newborns are disappearing from hospitals and Karen from Hanover House is in the hospital after just delivering a boy.Even though the believability aspect is questionable, there's something about this book that I like. It's got some excitement to it. Blair's got guts but what's up with the scar angle. She has scars. We get that. But why keep bringing it up? It's like every emotion Blair has, those facial scars flare up along with the emotion. Big whoop! She's the hothead in the group and won't take "NO" for an answer. If others aren't going to do anything, she will! There's Sadie who the girls at school are talking behind her back about and what's up with the popular guy at school? There's Morgan and Jonathan who are in the middle of it all. Morgan is Blair's sister and married to Jonathan. Jonathan and Cade are good friends. For Morgan to help Blair, she really can't tell Jonathan what she's up to. For Sadie to tell what she knows, she has to tell what she's been up to.There's mystery here but only for a time for the reader. The mystery is for the characters in the book to piece together. There's plenty "Don't do it. I wouldn't do that if I were you" in here.

Southern Storm rages on
After reading the first book in this series, Cape Refuge, I looked forward to immersing myself in this, the second book. And Terri Blackstock hit the ball out of park again. The book had many of the same characters from book one along with some new people, both good and bad.Blackstock has an excellent way of developing the story, keeping you guessing, keeping the characters interesting.I read the book in about 24 hours; it kept me wanting for more. So I am onto book three -can't wait to dive into it!

Good Book
Cape Refuge series - Southern Storm book 2 by Terri BlackstockThis was a good book. There was suspense as the Chief of Police Matthew Cade came up missing. Even though most of the town believed he just walked away from his position after hitting a pedestrian and killing him. Blair Owens wouldn't believe that even after evidence showed that most of the town was correct. I enjoyed her character of determination in the midst great opposition. This second book wetted my appetite for the next book. We want light to overcome evil and that's were the next book is headed. I would give this a good rating as I think the characters at times did become unreal. I was able to see things coming so some of the book was not a surprise. Overall I did enjoy Southern Storm but Terry has done much better in her other books. Southern Storm (Cape Refuge, No. 2)

Currently my best recommendation for a novel with suspense
After I had read one book in the Cape Refuge Series, I got the remaining three books as well - I knew I would like them. The author's themes are based on Christian principles such as redemption, forgiveness, eternal life, etc., and her characters are taken from real life. I like the author's storytelling skills plus her ability to convey suspense without reverting to graphic violence. You will not want to put the book down!

Biting my nails...
In Cape Refuge which is set near Tybee Island, Georgia, is a town that gets rocked by a great murder mystery. Kidnappings, Murders, and Love; Oh My! Newborns disappearing and being sold, accidents and storms, politics, and a budding romance are all entwined together to form a great tale. This time Blair will have to do some work not only on herself and defining what she believes but also trusting others to be steadfast pillars in her own life. We get to keep up with the characters of the first in this series and learn more about others.I got this book after reading the first in the series, and I was happily rewarded with a well written thrilling book. Not only was I on the edge of my seat of a kidnapping mystery, but also a budding romance and watching someone grow into who they should be. This story is a great read and one where virtually anyone can connect with a character in it. The scenarios are very realistic and with the fluidity that Terri writes with you can picture it all. I feel a connection having visited Tybee Island as well as Savannah and know the area. So, being able to picture the scenery and people with the very enthralling descriptions was great! Terri captured the atmosphere very well in her writing.

A rollercoaster ride of suspense, intrigue, mystery, and many twists and turns. Strong characters and strong storyline. A must read and plan to hang on. Many wonderful elements of the way God works in our lives.

A good clean investigation thriller with none of the usual unbelievable violence. Real life people with real life challenges. One of a good series.
