This purchase was for a friend who admired our copy.The photography is stunning. No posed hounds or beautiful scenery. Instead, the photographer captured the essence of these magnificent dogs by focusing on an ear, an eye, a foot, a tail, or even a portion of a group shot. The dogs were not always 'picture perfect'. The photos showed scars and blemishes that come with these dogs. The book was an un-whitewashed view of retired racers and is on par with the human anatomical studies done by the great masters of paint.AND...I got the book from Amazon CHEAPER than my book store could order it!!!!

I just received my pre-ordered copy today... what an amazing collection of photos!! I have a greyhound and Barbara Karant has really captured the beauty, the soul and the goofiness of these fine creatures. If you have a greyhound you must get this book. Not only are the photos beautiful, but the quotes and forward (by Alice Sebold) and afterward (by Neko Case) are further testimonials to this breed. And you don't have to actually have a greyhound to appreciate this book. The photography is really remarkable, it makes a fine addition to anyone's library.

The book is a lovely "coffee table" type book filled with great pictures of greyhound dogs. Unfortunately, I was looking for information for a college paper my daughter was doing on this breed of dog, so this was of no help at all. In the end she gave it to a woman active in the greyhound adoption field. It would have been helpful if the brief annotation for the book had mentioned that it is a pictorial study -- and I would have purchased a different book.

this is a lovely book- gorgeous pictures done simply,, you see the beauty of the dogs and are not distracted by backgrounds.If you love greyhounds,, this book is a lovely keepsake to enjoy over and over again.

Wow! saw this first when wrapping gifts for Amazon. then got to open it at a bookstore. finally bought the book for my wife for her birthday and we both love it. the quotes are great and the photos are awesome! I feel i could flip through this book many times. This really shows some of the best characteristics of greyhounds...from the inquisitive, to the tired, happy, social dog they are.a great book for any greyhound OR dog lover in general.

The plain backdrops against which Karant has photographed her dogs highlights their fashion-model conformation. The closeups of their component parts will strike a chord that allows fans of the breed to *feel* what it's like to stroke ear, flank, and paw. This book's audience is the confirmed greyhound lover, not someone considering adoption and wanting a thorough introduction to the brees.

Beautiful photographs that capture the essence of the greyhound. I am amazed that she was able to photograph them so well. Because of their anatomy, their facial expressions can look a bit odd. These photos show greyhounds at their best.

グレイハウンドのセクシーなボディーラインが沢山収録されている写真集。個人的に耳のアップ写真は嬉しかった^_^　あくまでグレイハウンドの写真集なので、レースで活躍する様なマッチョハウンドは収録されていない。残念。

For anyone living with Greyhounds or contemplating adopting a Greyhound, this is a fantastic book! It captures many of the wide array of expressions, poses and antics of these wonderful dogs.

A beautiful book full of striking photographs of this wonderful breed of dog. I dip into this book often, the pictures are so fresh and the accompanying text is excellent too. I would recommend it!
