There is a 1000:1 voltage divider internal to the probe. The probes "output" (plugs to meter.) impedance is ~1mohm (the 1 portion of the 1000:1). The meter needs to be at least 10mohms input impedance to maintain the general rule of being =>10x the piece being measured in order to avoid loading and and incorrect low results etc... **Q: How does the meter know it's reading high voltages? Or does it just tell you the reading in 'volts'?** A: The meter won't know that it's connected to a 1000:1 divider probe such as the 80K-40. The user will have to convert the reading (where 1V on the meter represents 1000V on the circuit). **Q: Dear Sirs! Is any Metrology Certificate(s) supply with new Probe?** A: No certificates were supplied with the probe **Q: The connector of this probe is banana type or not?? also whats the ac dc voltage range of this probe??** A: The 80K-40 is a high voltage probe designed to extend the voltage measuring capability of an AC/DC voltmeter to 40,000 volts peak AC or DC Overvoltage Category I. This means the probe can only be used to make measurements on energy limited circuits within equipment. Examples include high voltage within televisions or photo copy machines. DO NOT use this probe to measure high voltages on power distribution systems. The probe provides high accuracy when used with a voltmeter having 10 Megohm input impedance. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems legit, Tested pretty accurate *by J***N on May 28, 2024* I used this Fluke High-Voltage Probe along with a Fluke-233 Meter. Plugged directly into the meter as designed. I used two separate lab-grade power supplies and at least tested up to 4KV so far, It was spot on. 3360V read as 3.36V right on the dot. Was pretty satisfying! Very happy with the results. You can make your own for cheaper, but sometimes it's nicer to just buy something that simply works, that's also calibrated to Fluke standards. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Accurate from DC to 60Hz, well made *by L***H on September 10, 2018* I purchased this for a relatively inexpensive way to measure DC bias supplies in electrostatic loudspeakers (approx. 4kV). It's 1GΩ input impedance aids accuracy because it presents very little load to the measured circuit. It works very well in this application up to the power line fundamental. It would not be useful for power line harmonics measurement since it filters out higher frequencies. Fluke doesn't publish the bandwidth of this device, thus I measured it myself using an 80V pk-pk sweep and have attached the transfer function with this review. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Probe too short and fat *by F***K on September 25, 2020* This a wonderful, accurate device for measuring high voltage. Unfortunately, the designers assumed that all high voltage objects are large and unobstructed by protective cages or other means. The diameter of the conductive tip is about 1/4 inch, making it incompatible with probe accessories.
