Is designed to demonstrate Rhythms that can be played on a Frame Drum, each rhythm is played for approximately three minutes at the same speed, giving you a chance to play along with the rhythm and become more familiar with it building body memory. The rhythms on this CD are Maqsoum (4 Versions), Beledi (3 Versions), Masmoudi (4 Versions), Moroccan 6/8, Karsilama (3 Versions), Laz, Ayoub (4 Versions), Malfouf (4 Versions) It is a great CD for learning the rhythm, as well as playing agasint other rhythms. Good for Zil or Finger Cymbal players to use to practice with, as well as other Drums and percussive instruments as well

good, but really needs the "Playing Along With Middle Eastern Rhythms" cd's also
This cd is not what I expected. On the "Playing Along with Middle Eastern Rhythms" cd's Talisen voices the playing pattern's strokes, so you know which beat is played which way. So on the "playing along..." it's clear which beat is played with the "doum", the "tek" and the "ka" as well as a grab. On the frame drum cd's there is good explanation of how to play each note overall, but no voice tracks to the individual rhythms and the beats are played the same on most, but not all rhythms, there are some variations between the doumbek and the frame drum rhythms of the same name, but there is no verbal explanation of the differences.the "playing along" cd's are more valuable I think for that reason, but I play frame drums. it's not impossible to extrapolate the differences, in fact, what I did was create a playlist using his voice track, then the doumbek pattern, then the frame drum pattern so it gives me a more effective learning system.
