Misleading problems with item description.
This is a great receiver. I owned one for several years and regret selling it. In terms of amplifier quality, Harman Kardon's 40 amp current design really shines here. However, I'm writing this review because there are some bad errors in Amazons description. This is an analog Dolby Pro-Logic receiver. The rear channels are mono and nothing is discrete. It is not 5.1, it does not have Dolby Digital as described. It is not really suitable for DVD or Bluray. This product was sold by Harman Kardon in about 1994 so no Dolby Digital, HDMI, on-screen programming, etc. All connections are simple Left/Right RCA's and the surround signal is pulled from an analog matrix in a stereo signal... such as that from VHS Hi-Fi (although DVD's do carry that too).It supports composite video and S-Video, neither of which is high definition. It was built in the era of Hi-Fi VHS.Also, I'm seeing prices here of $369? Guys, this receiver sold in 1994 for $800 at Circuit City... 19 years ago.Right now Amazon has the Harman Kardon 1710 for $399. Similar high current amplifier but with Dolby Digital 7.2, DTS, HDMI, on-screen everything, network connected, etc, etc... and new with a warranty.ALSO: It's not 600 watts! It's 65 across each of the three fronts and 25 watts in each of the two rears in Pro-Logic mode and just 75 watts in each of the two fronts in stereo only mode.

Great Receiver, wrong Amazon Description
Great receiver for it's era but the description and title are incorrect. Per the other review the title and specs stated on Amazon are just wrong. That said I've had this since 1996 and it's preformed flawlessly. I bought my first Harmon Kardon the late 1970s and only replaced it because it was destroyed in a fire. I use this one daily as it is connected to a CD player, a Blue Ray player, TV, and my Hopper. The sound is very good, although I've like a little more power going to the rear surround speakers.
