EDITED A YEAR LATER: The wheel still works great. It's worth noting that you need to oil the bearing often (we do once a week) with mineral oil (or I've been known to use cooking spray when I didn't have mineral oil, which worked fine and was still safe). Also, you can order replacement bearings at the exotic nutrition website. I've replaced it once since we got it. Wally still loves his wheel, and he's been known to run on the wheel even while he's free to roam the house.I couldn't believe I was going to spend so much on something for a rodent to exercise on. BUT it arrived today and my kids' juvenile Degu figured it out with only a little bit of sunflower seed bribery...And he hasn't stopped since. He LOVES this thing. We previously had a plastic wheel and the wheel fell off while the little rat was running, scaring us all half to death. That will not happen with the flying saucer. It looks much safer than the plastic things.It's worth the money, because I won't have to replace this. By the time you replace the cheap plastic wheels a couple times, you may as well have spent a little more in the first place.

I have a hedgehog, she is less than a year old still and in that time she went through 3-4 of those cheaply made plastic versions of this. I finally decided to spend the money and try this. I'm glad I did, it is so amazing! It is very silent too, which s great since my hedgehog is nocturnal and I am not and I have a small apartment.

My hedgehog Gimli loves this wheel. It is sturdy, easy to clean, and provides lots of fun for Gimli. It does take up more space in his terrarium than a traditional wheel, but he loves it. It took him a solid week to learn how to use the wheel, so don't despair if your hedgie doesn't get it right away. He persevered and now has hours of fun on his wheel every night. The wheel is very quiet too.

Clean it by sealing only 30 min. If you soak longer it may get squeaky. To remedy that a drop of olive oil does the trick.

I thought the price was high, but it's very quiet can't hear it at all, easy to clean and won't move all over the cage.

Quiet, solid and worth the money. Bought this for my degus, they seem to enjoy it and run on it off and on all day.
