TROBO Curie for iOS

I would give a 4 star review if this thing weren't astronomically over priced for what it is. My 3 and 5 year old went though all included stories on this thing in way less than 1 hour.....now what.....spend more money and buy more stories??!!?? The app only includes a handful of learning stories that a typical child probably doesn't want to repeat a million times (as in my kids are already done playing with Trobo within a weeks time). They are super short stories and the learning is extremely minimal in my very honest opinion to warrant such a high price tag. Even when my kids hold Trobo and her volume is on the highest setting you can barely hear it because of the natural way a child would hold their stuffed animal as they look at the iPhone "together". If this were in the price range of $25-30 I would give it 4 stars because I would feel the technology is worth that price range while the volume would still be an issue and the minimal stories would still tick me off. This is by far the most expensive stuffed animal I have ever purchased since my kids are bored of the stories already- I feel like I've been robbed!!!! The idea for Trobo is really a great concept and she is a very soft & beautiful robot but the production and price really made this a waste of $70. This is almost $100 for an hours worth of play ;0( I currently have her sitting on my living room couch so I can at least look at her every day and try to get my money's worth out of her that way.

I purchased the Trobo as a baby shower gift tons expectant Mom. The baby has not arrived as of yet , however the parents are so excited to share it with their little one as soon as they are able. The new Mom is an educater and loves the possibility of exposing the child to this technology. I have another baby shower soon and I'm thinking of sharing the same gift once the parents share the sex. I would like to have a more human friendly voice.

First Impression of Curie:I bought this item for my niece of almost four who lives in Japan. As of now I have not given it to her yet, but we did FaceTime as I set up Curie. She's so excited to meet her! Curie pronounced my niece's name correctly the first time, but it gives you the option to spell out the appropriate pronunciation, which is such an important feature. Curie's voice is cute and asked my niece questions about her gender/hair color/skin color etc. My niece has already referred to Curie as her friend which is something important to me, as she is an only child. I was accidentally sent an open box & contacted the seller, they immediately sent me out a new one with a prepaid return label as well as a thank you note.My brother in law is a Marine and is currently gone for the next six months. I hope with time Curie will serve as a companion for my niece as well as a buffer for my sister who will be at home 24/7 with no one for company except a dog and a baby. I think this product is such a simple, but ingenious one! As my both her grandmothers speak primarily Spanish I really hope the Spanish feature helps her to understand/speak a bit more Spanish by the time they return from Japan! I love this product as of now and can't wait to update this review with how well my niece enjoys it.

It is useless. Very limited educative content, you have to pay for it inapp purchase and poor. Poor apps, my daughter went thru it in 5 minutes and abandoned it. For the price it makes each minute expensive. Do not buy it.

Its a soft toy with mini speaker in it. I do not see whats the innovation here

My Mom was an initial backer of the Kickstarter so we received one of the first runs of this toy. Three years later and there is still no Android support, so this has basically been a really expensive stuffed animal

We have been looking for science related toys for our 4 year old, and thankfully came across Trobo (female version "Curie"). This toy is leagues ahead of anything out there.The Trobo comes with several FREE, COMPLETE stories that the Trobo reads to our daughter while she holds her stuffed robot, and the stories themselves on the iPad are so well done. The scientific topics are presented in an engaging style and the graphics keep our four year old engaged.Our daughter loves playing with her Curie and my wife finds the plush figure "incredibly soft and cute." Huge thanks for this company for putting out a much needed science toy.

Great toy! Got one for my daughter who loves going through the stories, and changing the hairstyle of the girl avatar. Fantastic gift for anyone with a little one who is interested in things.
