(Does it has lead?) The smells is kind of strong and it transfers to the tissues...** A: I suspect the paint is a kind of enamel. With our box, I lined the bottom with a sheet of wax paper. Then, I read online how to put the tissues in, keeping the box, so the tissues don't touch the container. Take the tissue box, unfold each of the four flaps on the ends and cut them off, so that all you have left is the top and bottom of the cardboard box. Then finesse the box into the Tissue Box Cover. Keeps the tissues in order, and they don't smell like the paint. **Q: Does anybody think these will work with pull up hand paper towels?** A: I have not tried paper towels. However, the opening is slightly smaller than the width of facial tissue. The tissue is very flexible and folds easily to come out through the opening. Paper towels are stiffer and perhaps larger, and as such, there could be a problem with them. **Q: What are the interior dimensions? (the description doesn’t say whether the dimensions it gives are interior or exterior)** A: The dimensions are exterior and tissues must be taken out of the box or any other packaging before being placed in the holder. **Q: can this be cleaned with alcohol wipe or soap and water?** A: I would recommend just a wet, then a dry cloth. If needed you could use a bit of soap and water. Alcohol wipe could eventually discolour it. It is sitting on a shelf of books and blends right in with the other books. My tissue boxes fit inside perfectly. The inside space would accommodate a box of approximately 9"L X 4-3/4"W X 3-1/2"H. There are a couple of places inside the holder where the 'book edges' jut into the inside of the box and I have taken that into account in my measurements.
