I knew it was good, but after season one it wasn't what I ...
The first time I watched true detective season 2, I knew it was good , but after season one it wasn't what I wanted. But ... then I waited a few months, and it scratched at me, over and over. So I watched it again, then so acheing and amazed by the acting, I watched again and now again. Wow. Vince Vaughn did his best acting of his career here. Colin Firth , Miss Adams , all the best I've ever seen them. The first episode, at the end . In the bar. My least favorite life being sung, and the camera angles, then the perfect acting by Vaughn and Firth, just hits . Not over the top, just at the perfect state of interest of the dialog and the tension of the story all coming together for its first piece of insight to the show as a whole. What's really going on. This is a season of a show, that will intrigue and wonderfully haunt any who are lucky enough to see it. Great art at its best.

Critics are not to be trusted I think is my takeaway
This was fantastic storytelling. A complex narrative and extensive cast to figure out and pay attention to makes it far from casual viewing. Also very dark in tone, it sure isn't likely going to make you feel like you watched The Wizard of Oz at the end. Highly recommended over the usual pap that is on the tv.

Season 2 of True Detective - Amazing Series!!!
This was an excellent series!! I watched it on HBO and I was blown away. The story, the cast, the atmosphere, the whole nine. The show received a lot of unfavorable reviews, namely from people who were diehard fans of the first season. Season one did very well; Season two is a new cast and a new case and I thought it was amazing. I knew after it was over that I had to own it, to relive the experience, and to add it to my Colin Farrell collection. I absolutely love him!!!

A Complex Story Unfolds!
Generally it tough to beat the incredible Season 1 of this series, but Season 2 comes close. There are a lot of characters to keep up with and it demands intense watching with all the twists and turns. if you like crime thrillers this hits the mark, particularly as it entwines the California train debacle into the fictional story. Well worth a watch, an encore viewing is also worthwhile to catch the stories nuances surely missed on the first run.

True Detective 2 is terrific; ignore bad reviews
TD2 is not plot driven but character driven and the four leads give spectacular performances. Over the years, Colin Farrell has shown he is a phenomenal acting chameleon. Where’s his Emmy or Oscar? Vaughn plays against type and is excellent. McAdams and Kitche are also very good as are the supporting cast. Upon second viewing I enjoyed it even more, understanding the plot twists better. The reviews complaining 2 is not as good as 1 are comparing apples to oranges. I highly recommend buying this 3 disc set. The actors commentaries are great in special features. A solid 5 stars!

Very Good Follow Up to Greatest Show Ever (Season One)
Okay so season two couldn't touch season one. And? Season one of True Detective may be the greatest show that was ever aired on television. Nothing is going to compare to it. Season two had its flaws but it was very entertaining. I like Vince Vaughn. He did a nice job. I do not like Colin Farrell. Guess what? It was the best acting he's ever done. Supporting cast was good as well. Give this a chance.

True Detective Season 2
I did not like True Detective Season 2 nearly as well as Season 1. The characters were interesting, to be sure, but there was not a single one of them to root for. In addition, I, for one, get pretty tired of foul language every time one of them speaks. The plot was so convoluted that it wasvery difficult to follow. I purchased Season 2 mainly because it took place in Los Angeles and environs. I enjoy movies with local color. However, this one did not have a local "feel" to it. even though the backbone of the plot was the construction of Governor Brown"s "High SpeedRail." I gave it three stars because of the excellent cinematography.. . .

Well acted crime drama. Very dark, but worth your time.
It takes a while to figure out what’s going on, but once it becomes clear the story is told in flashback it becomes riveting. Two dark and disturbed detectives try to solve a ritual murder, but may have let the wrong man take the fall. Woody Harelson and Mathew mcConnehay are amazing. Probably their best work in years. Recommended for fans of the police procedural sub genre.

It's easy to see why TD Season 2 was unfavourably reviewed
It's easy to see why TD Season 2 was unfavourably reviewed: is Season One everything was established in the first episode (in Season Two the set-up isn't complete until episode four); in Season One the relationships were clear and quite linear (in season two they change every episode), and so on.But having binge watched the show over three nights, I consider Season Two to be at least the equal of one. Season Two is clearly influenced by the work of James Ellroy (American Tabloid, COld Six Thousand, LA COnfidential) -- a complex multicharacter multilayered plot that almost unravels several times, and yet someone comes back to a conclusion that is both appropriate and unpredictable. Is ISN'T a sequel, it's a completely new idea. If you're expecting a rehash of Season One (which I loved) it's not gonna happen.I couldn't stop watching.

I Bloody Well Love It. Season three Is coming..
This show is called True Detective for a reason, I see people say the main actors are gone, it has nothing to dowith season 1, so you can’t put these same actors in a different town to do other police work, can’t happen.it’s a different town it’s a different scenario altogether, so trying to compare an wasting time writing a reviewabout one or the other is useless, this has its own merit of commitment of what it is, being a True Detective”detectives investigating crimes like the other one did, that should Not be so hard to understand,I’ve watched it twice an I absolutely love it, and I could watch it again in the next two or three years if I want,Vince Vaughn got all the best lines in this show, the guy was exceptional the way his character played out.in the first one Matthew McConaughey an Woody Harrelson were the main character now in this one Nic Pizzolatto.turn the tables a little an make V. Vaughn character (Gangster) the bad guy through the whole series.I even like the music by T Bone Burnett, it brought such an authentic feel to it, especially when Colin Farrell wentto Vaughn an said we have to talk, that table scene was so stressful waiting for the outcome. just love it..even if it is, as people say just another police investigating story it’s a dam good one that’s for sure,an then they say it’s hard to follow, you’d think that would be the problem an not the show....Eh..pay attention it helps.the whole story rest on one man Ben Casper who was killed, an took most of his (Vaughn) money, an corruption withinthe police force an the sex addict (congressmen) they protect...I Bloody Well Love It.
