save the tube conversion piece when you get a new pump
So my pump light failed and I ordered a replacement and tossed the old one failing to save the bit of tube that adapted the pump head to the fountain pipe-replacement came with crushed box and the connector was missing, ordered a replacement being a man of "faith" and got a credit instead, ordered another replacement and same lack of vital connector. Plan to go to the local pet fish place to finally get my fountain fountaining.

Great replacement for many types of fountains/lights
My daughter has a cute fountain in the likeness of a turtle with a translucent lighted shell. We lost the power adapter for it and I initially tried to find an adapter. After spending way too much money at Radio Shack on a DC power adapter, I found that it actually takes 12v AC! So I started looking for an appropriate adapter here on Amazon. In doing so, I found this pump/light combo and several others. I would've never thought these things existed as replacement items... but they do and THEY COST LESS THAN MOST POWER ADAPTERS! Evidently there are a large enough variety of similar displays that it made sense for companies to offer these replacements. So, why buy an adapter, when you can replace the whole thing?Pros:InexpensiveStandard design that works in many fountain/light displaysSmaller pump than in other replacements means that it will more likely fit in your applicationWorks wellCon:Like most of these units (and I looked at all of them) it does not have a switch. To turn it off, you pull out the power adapter tip from the cord to the pump. This is the same design as the original one we had, which is why we lost the adapter, it can be unplugged and separated from the rest of the unit. This shouldn't really be a problem if you leave the display set up, or are more organized than we are!Things to consider: Many of the displays have a standard size hole less than half inch diameter that the light fits into. This unit and a several others have a single whit light that fits the hole, with a rubber gasket to seal out the water. You may be tempted to buy a unit with multiple color LED's, but be sure that it will fit into the appropriate space on your fountain display! If you want one with a switch these were the cheapest when I checked, however they still cost a lot more than the unit I have reviewed here:Fountain Pro WT65Lp Submersible Fountain Pump w/ LightIt also appears to me that compatible pumps with switches use an inexpensive roller switch that in my experience are prone to failure. So perhaps just pulling out the adapter tip is the best way!

Don't bother
Sorry, but I hadn't had this 2 days and the light went out. Didn't like this product at all. I'm using it on a fountain that does not require lighting. Kind of a moot point, considering I have a table top fountain that needs the light for it to become functional.

The pump itself is fine, but I didn't realize until I got it that the light cord was very short. After speaking with someone at the office where it was sent from, I found out that the pump with light that I am needing is a special-made one just for the fountain I have. I must commend the gentleman, though - he has tried many ways to figure out something that will work for me.

Not powerful enough - or as advertised.
Pump operates, light is fine. However they advertise 19" Max head, i.e. 19 inches that the pump can push water. My tabletop fountain is much less - approximately ten inches, and the pump would not reach that height, even at max volume. I had to crimp the flow tube to the top of the fountain in order to get some water to the top. Not an ideal solution. The original pump with light had absolutely no problem, so it is strictly a power issue and likely their specs are incorrect...Other than that it is fine....but pumping water to the top of the fountain is the number one quality issue and expectation, right? Then the light has to work - and it does.

Excellent Liitle Pump and Responsive Vendor
Great pump for tabletop fountain. Includes a light, an interesting feature. The clear glass tube that encapsulates the lightbulb was broken on the unit when it arrived. I called it to the attention of Amazon and immediately received responses from Amazon and the vendor. I was away and unable to respond. The vendor took the initiative to send a replacement tube which was awaiting me upon my return. To my pleasant surprise I was able to easily switch out the tubes. All works as expected, and I was saved the hassle of returning the entire unit.

We actually needed to buy a bigger pump. However, we adapted it to our little cat waterer and it works.

Pumps the water, but 10 W light bulb was not included
It pumps the water in my little desk fountain, but it was supposed to come with a 10 W light bulb and it did not. I was disappointed that the light bulb was missing.
