Pop-Up: Everything You Need to Create Your Own Pop-Up Book Hardcover – October 26, 2010

My advanced 4yo LOOOOVED this book! The instructions are involved but it was a fun challenge for him. He helped me find pieces and fold them, sometimes inserting them into slots and sticking them on pages. I did most of the heavy lifting but it was enlightening for him to see these flat pieces of paper turn into a dimensional sculpture. It helps that the book is very high quality- sturdy pages, printed on both sides, fantastic illustrations, and covers really great pop up technique- like sound makers! If I could critique it, I would say to add a story to the different projects and to PLEASE do more books with different themes- seasons, weather, etc.Highly recommended for anyone between 3-100.

This book is not just a pop-up book - it is a Pop-Up Experience! Well crafted and delightfully designed, this book offers an amazing inside view (or should I say back-side view?) of just how pop-up books are engineered. There is animation on every page including the cover. From a printing and production standpoint, I am surprised that they could keep the cost of this book as low as they did. Full color, pop-ups, die cuts, foil embossing, tear offs... they even included the tape and a rubber band!? There is nothing else you need but time, imagination and this book to guide you, step by easy step into creating some of the most delightful pop-up scenes.Each interactive make-your-own pop-up scene has a tear off instruction sheet that includes a Mini Master Class on each pop-up technique: Even Tent, Parallel Box, Rubber Band, Noise Maker, Triangle on a Tent, Spiral and more. If you put the pop-up pages together in order, the techniques get a little more advanced so, by the time you have put together all the pages, you have a pretty good working knowledge of how pop-ups are engineered PLUS some pretty nifty instructions to keep in the form of Mini Master Class "brochures".I could not put this book down until I had finished all the pop-ups. And even though the pages are "finished", the book just keeps delighting me every time I open it. Kudos to the designer, the illustrator AND the printer/publisher: Well done!The only thing I am puzzled about is the age suggestion: 3 to 8 years. Really? It should be 3 to 101. If you are looking for the ultimate pop-up book - whether a how-to or fun pop-up book - I HIGHLY recommend  Pop-Up: Everything You Need to Create Your Own Pop-Up Book .So. Much. Fun. (Oh, yeah, and I'm a 50+ year old).

I like to make my own birthday cards for family & friends so I bought this mainly for grandkids cards, but it is informative and shows you how to fold and do different techniques.

I've purchase two of these as presents for 8-10-year-old nieces. Both immediately wanted to work on the pop-ups with me. Both wanted to, and were able to, do almost all the work themselves. They were thrilled with the results and showed the book to various family members who all thought the book was quite impressive. The book provides instructions for additional pop-ups and one of my nieces went on to make a card that had an alligator's mouth opening with sound effects. An extremely successful gift!

If you are looking for a book that has all the stuff you need to make 4 cards, this is it. I was looking for a book that would show me how to make the pop up for any card I want to make. This book has some amazing cards to make, for boys, but they aren't anything you can recreate yourself. I was very disappointed and am thinking of sending it back.

cute, but costly.

This is a fantastic way to make a pop up book. My 5 year old daughter did this, and needed adult help to read the instructions and directions on what to do. It is hard enough she could have done it herself, but an older child that can read and follow directions would be okay. There a few really neat and colorful pop ups in the book that are made relatively easy to do with the instructions they provide. She still looks at it and it is now one of her books that she looks at, not just an art project that gets tossed aside. Plus the instructions include how you can make your own popups, which we did a few simple ones. It gave her an insight on how her other popup books work. Very cool book.

I ordered this book for my niece who loves popup books, is crafty and is pretty talented at building things. However, when the book arrived I found it to be too oriented for boys. Dragons, castles and Frankenstein were featured. I was expecting something more gender-neutral.

This is an excellent book - lots of fun to construct (with clear instructions & lots of different techniques) and you are left with a fun pop-up book to read / show off afterwards. Would appeal to girls or boys.Would suggest getting a glue gun to stick it together though as I don't think the self-adhesive tabs it comes with would last very long (due to the forces pulling at the various parts) and you'd be very upset if all your hard-work fell apart.

En sus páginas y mediante piezas ya troqueladas, aprendes a montar pop-ups y, además, cada capítulo incluye una lección sobre el tipo de arquitectura que estás trabajando: te explica cómo realizar el dibujo, el corte y el indente correctos.

英文だったのでよくわかってないまま購入したのですが、飛び出す部分を自分で作ることができる本です。出来上がっているものは最初のロボットのページだけで、他のドラゴンとかお城とかフランケンシュタインの実験室とか森の中（？）とかは、印刷されて切り込みも入っているパーツを自分で組み立てることができます。この本は自分で組み立てて完成するのですね。作り方も図で示してくれてるので、しかけ絵本を作ってみたい方はまずこれを組み立ててみたらいいかと思います。しかけの構造がわかりますよ。

El libro está muy chulo, viene muchas ideas, y formas para ir construyendo pop up siguiendo los pasos, pero por lo menos a partir de los 9 años.
