Basic physics are that if it 'catches' the wind it will flip, but hit it to 'shield' the wind, and it flips right back with no damage to the spokes. Material hasn't torn, spokes unbroken, I like the wrist loop (with appears to be detachable via a screw). I haven't tested it in any real bad storm yet, but on some gusty days, it's done well. I was fooling around with in one day (after "dancing in the rain") and accidentally hit the open button. i had the strap velcro only loosely secured and it opened with some force against the strap, and then i shut it again quickly (i was boarding bus). I was so afraid it had broken but upon inspection, is perfectly fine.

Worst umbrella ever! Broke within week of having it. Couldn't stand up to 22mph winds before it flipped inside out.UPDATE: Since writing the first review, Kolumbo customer service reached out to me and sent a replacement umbrella, without being asked or contacted first. I must say that the replacement umbrella has been much better; I haven't experienced any flipping and it has held up in the wind. It's still smaller than I'd like, but that's on me for not reading the measurements.

Updated: This umbrella literally broke the first day I used it after being flipped inside out due to the wind, so I was super mad. However, I wrote a review and customer service immediately contacted me, apologized and sent out a free replacement. That one remained sturdy until I eventually lost it. I really appreciate a company that provides that type of customer service, and that makes me trust their quality. Would use again.

Have not experienced any wind yet but in rainy weather the umbrella functions beautifully. Opens and closes easily.

Just had the opportunity to use it on Staten Island, NY where we just had some torrential downpour and 20mph winds. It stood up to the hype and protected me very well.

DID break in wind

Had monogrammed for high school seniors. They seemed pleased.

a bit difficult to open and close. Smaller than I expected; not a "Florida rain" size umbrella. Nice color.
