Loved Tracy Chapman's first two albums and then moved on for whatever reason. Recently, after listening to them again, I decided to purchase "New Beginning" and I'm so glad I did. It has been one of those albums that I just cannot get enough of and I probably have listened to it daily for the last month.

Finally someone knows how to package and ship a cd. 5 stars for GABBIE with the heart over the I for perfect packaging and shipment. I will buy from this business again Everything was perfect..Thanks for prtecting my purchase.

I have always liked Tracy Chapman and bought this cd for just one song I'd heard used in the background of a video. The rest of the songs are nice too but some are very mother-earth-spiritual and environmental...which gives me an interesting sensation of protest along with relaxation. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet! All in all it's a nice collection.

While her debut will always be the best in my opinion, this album though would be a close second. "Give me one Reason" became a hit for a reason (it was smooth and probably one of the best blues cut of the 90's). The whole album shouldn't be judged based on that song though. All the songs are really good. I didn't feel the urge to fast forward past some songs to get to the one I like. My favorite song on this album is "New Beginning" which is her most upbeat energetic song. I found myself tapping my feet on a few occasions. Anyway this album is very easy to listen to and it's one of her more consistent albums and I really recommend it. Actually I recommend all her albums except for 2000's "Telling Stories"(the only album of hers I was disappointed with because it seemed like a step-down of her talent). And I give caution about "Matters of the Heart" (While I liked it, I'll admit it takes a while to get into).
