It works! Just plan ahead!
I got this barrier several months ago right before the spring/summer seasons. I have a large bamboo grove right behind my yard. I have lived at this house for about 2 years now and every season prior, I was fighting off the bamboo from creeping into my backyard. It was a constant DAILY battle to chop and dig it all up. The species has the very fast growing underground "runners" for roots so it spreads very quickly. I surrounded my entire backyard in the barrier (roughly 225 feet) and it has held strong the entire time through the spring and summer growth season. No sign of bamboo growth in the backyard. I did have a slight oversight... My back yard is a giant hill and the barrier is set at the bottom. The water drainage of my yard has been an issue because I essentially blocked all water flow underground.. I will more than likely have to install a sump pump to be able for my yard to drain and stay dry properly. the barrier works great! Just be sure to plan ahead for any water drainage within your yard.

Block Intrusive Sabal Palm Roots
I bought this material to block intrusive two Sabal Palm root systems. I replaced older landscape plantings with caladiums last May. The caladiums flourished until September when they started to fail. I had excavated some of the palm trees roots but obviously not enough. The roots had grown under the mulch and over the bulbs causing the bulbs not to be able to send new growth upwards. The palms were planted in 1981 and are about 20-25 feet tall. I have just about finished cutting and digging out roots down to an 18" depth and out up to 6 ft from base of trees - no small feat. I plan to cut the Bamboo shield to put around the trunks about 12" off the trunk at a depth of 18". Once that is done I will replant about 100+ caladium bulbs that I dug up and hope they grow. The palm tree roots appear to grow out and down for the most part so I hope the Bamboo shield works to keep the roots deep under ground. Not sure if cutting all this tree root matting will damage the trees but they are larger than I would like so if I lose them I won't be too upset.

high quality product
Bamboo barrier material comes in a variety of thicknesses. I have been growing a patch of Golden Bamboo for several years and the original barrier that I installed was thinner than this material and was starting to fail. The amount of pressure that bamboo roots can create is amazing, so I strongly recommend paying a bit extra to get the 60 mil thickness. You can also get different depths of barrier. In my experience I have not had a problem with Golden bamboo going under the 24 inch width material. But if you have something like Giant bamboo I would recommend the wider material.

Important to install first!!
Very heavy product to unravel. First you have to set it out in the sun so that it can flatten or else it’ll curl up on you. Very heavy to install in hole in the ground. But that is because I got the heaviest 100 mm. But I feel confident that this size works the best I only planted one bamboo in my small circle and I did double up the barrier because I had extra. my family wasn’t so confident that this product will work but now that they sought in person and I have put it in the ground with the bamboo they feel better about it. This is definitely the best way to go if you’re planting bamboo in your backyard or wherever because it seems to put people that are in disbelief about bamboo to feel more at ease.

High Quality Products
I have been buying products from Lewis Bamboo since 2012. The barrier works well at protecting one's yard from "invasion " I have found it thick and durable. The issue is not the barrier but the installation most times. I have had rhizones jump the barrier (grow up outside the barrier) in a few places but it was due to how the barrier was installed (tree root in the path of the barrier, etc ) that caused the barrier not to be as secure. I simply checked the area outside the barrier twice a year and could easily cut the rhizomes and stop to growth. The bamboo was relatively easy to maintain with good installation of a great barrier. Lewis Bamboo was great in providing a lot of instruction on installing bamboo.Very pleased with my investment in a living fence

Will hold back bamboo roots or any other root.
I have a bamboo grove that I used 2"x12" boards stacked double to make a 20" tall wall. There was hardly any room I thought for a bamboo root to escape,,, I was wrong. Found 3 thick roots heading for the neighbors backyard when I dismantled it to install this barrier. This is extremely thick plastic barrier that no root will ever penetrate. I was able to make 90 degree turns around cement pillars I built around my bamboo grove. Working very well so far and don't expect any issues.

Thick, strong, perfect bamboo root barrier
No more neighbor's bamboo rhizomes in my lawn! Cost a pretty penny, though. 30" deep trench, place 75 feet of this bamboo barrier in the trench, several yards of soil to fill up the trench.
