Sentinel Shredders FM104B EZ Lift 10-Sheet Micro-Cut Shredder, Black, 10 Sheets

If you've never used a MICRO-CUT shredder, then you need to get one. It's amazing! The old strip-style shredders are fairly easy to piece together. Good luck trying to make anything out of the pieces of confetti left by this shredder. It also shreds a tremendous amount before the bin needs emptying. Those are the primary reasons I purchased this shredder and it does those things very well.However, I'm not sure how they get "10-sheet" shredder. I'd never try to put more than 4 or 5 sheets of credit card bills through it in 1 pass. It handles 2 or 3 pages OK. It really starts slowing down if you put 4-5 pages in at 1 time and sounds like it's going to stop. So if you have a high volume of continuous shredding, look somewhere else. This model heats up quickly and once it shuts off, it takes a good 30 min to cool down. You can't shred anything while it cools down. We use it for home use, so that isn't really a deal breaker for us. But we did clean out a file cabinet and had to wait each time it shut off.Purchased on Amazon for $57.25 and for that price I wouldn't hesitate to buy this shredder again. MICRO-CUT is simply astonishing! You'll love it...

This is an incredible shredder in a reasonable space. We had bought an Amazon basics shredder, it was very big and after two days, for some unknown reason (I think there are some quality assurance issues with certain private label products) it stopped shredding completely. Returned that shredder and somehow found this one.It is a year later. NO problems. Only stopped shredding once due to overheating. And that time it must have been going for over an hour. It has nice features like basket fill indicator and a window on the side of the basket. Did I mention it is small? Fits in a corner between a bench and a wall and we only notice it when we need it.Finally, even though it is much smaller, it is noticeably heavier than the Amazon shredder was. I think that this means less plastic and more beef in the motor. I think that accounts for the performance difference. If you need a shredder and want this level of security, get this and a bottle of shredder oil and you will never look back.

It does the job well. Tends to overheat pretty quickly, though, but works fine if you're doing just a little bit of mail or papers at a time.UPDATE: After using it very lightly and very occasionally, the gears stripped on two sheets of paper. I have kept it properly maintenanced with the proper oil and never used it against the manufacturer's specs.I am having a difficult time finding the contact for Sentinel or Amazon for this product to receive support.

A very affordable quality micro cut shredder. I have been wanting one since I purchased one for a family member. Originally was going to purchase the same one as the family member, but held out and saw this one. It has a little weight to it ( like all shredders do! ), so I really like the top locking handle. In case it ever gets knocked over that will save you all the clean up ( which is a huge bonus to me ). I have yet to have a cool down light. It shreds plastic ( debit / credit ), has the side window, so you know when it's ready to empty. On / off, forward, reverse, and 3 indicator lights, came with " lube " sheets. Compared to the other machine this is above and beyond. Worth the cost and a great value. Highly recommend!

What can I say, it shreds! I picked this model because I wanted one where the top lifts off. With other shredders that have the drawer that pulls out, I'd often have a problem when the bin got too full. Then the drawer gets sort of jammed, because it's overflowing with shreds. Here, the top just lifts off, so no issues. (The top does have a couple of locking clips, so that you can pick the whole thing up by the top handle to carry it around).I put a trash bag inside, and just fold the edges over the sides to retain it before replacing the cover motor unit. A sensor will stop the shredder when it gets full. I've found that the first time this happens, I can push down the loosely-packed shreds and get more shredding done before I have to change the bag.If you are shredding a big pile of stuff, the overheat sensor will shut it down for a while to allow it to cool off. I haven't timed how long it takes to cool down, but I'd say it similar to most shredders in this respect.Overall, a good unit and very handy to not deal with jammed drawers.

I have used this shredder so far to shred over 100 pages and 4 credit cards. First, the micro-cut is great. Having previously owned a cross-cut shredder, the waste produced by this micro-cut is much smaller (obviously I know), and allows for more paper to be shredded before emptying the waste bin. I haven't tested the max number of pages (10) through this machine yet, but I can say that it handles 6-8 sheets without any issues. I also ran 4 credit cards through (one at a time of course) without any issues. The handle on the top, the locks on the side, and the waste basket full sensor are all nice touches. I expect with proper maintenance and use this shredder will last for quite some time (my last one lasted over 10 years).

Private is loud when in use noisy

After being used for a few months, with recurring overheating problems, it finally has truly died by constantly jamming on even a single sheet of paper. I will now have to tear it up and see what I can do to fix it. Absolutely hate the device; do not buy.Initially reviewed as 3 stars:Cross-shreds really well, but with some limitations. As long as you are shredding just the few daily junk mail its alright, but as soon as you start shredding documents in earnest it overheats and shuts down. It then takes a long time to cool down and accept another job.Also, if you attempt to shred a stack as wide as the shredder opening allows, the shredder will overheat and shut down.Plus, its bloody noisy.
