Not for Compaq
I'm sure it is fine for other 486 computers but it was not compatible with my Compaq Presario CDS 520. System would not POST with this and an AMD AM5x86 installed. This is an unusual computer with a non-standard motherboard so I'm not surprised it didn't work.

Works Great with Cyrix 5x86 100 MHz
I purchased two of these recently in order to upgrade two of my vintage game rigs from 66 MHz 486 DX2's to Cyrix 5x86's running at 100 MHz (one being a Powermac 6100/66 DOS Compatible). This adapter should work on most socket compatible 486 motherboards which are capable of supplying 5V only. Not only does the adapter serve as voltage converter, it also allows for multiple configuration options concerning clock multipliers and CPU cache modes. In addition, considering the age as well as the fact that these CPU Voltage Converters/Interposers are nigh impossible to find these days, I am more than pleased with the price and very glad that I was still able to obtain them Well worth it.

Great voltage adapter for vintage enthusiasts
Good little adapter. Been putting it off for a while but finally ordered one. Wish I would have sooner! This adapter made my 486/66 come alive with a 5x86/133 @ 160mhz. So no problems overclocking either. System seems very stable, so 2 thumbs up. Wish it was a tad cheaper, but hey finding one is impossible nowadays as-is, so happy with what I can get...

Works great.
Worked great for upgrading my vintage 486-66 rig to a 5x86-100 CPU. Excellent choice for upgrading to a 3.45 volt CPU in a 5 volt only capable motherboard, should work for most/all DX4 and 5x86 upgrade chips that require 3.45 volt supplies.Socket adapter also has dip switches for setting cache mode (write through or write back) and clock multiplier (3x or 4x).
