## Overview

The MXR Bass Octave Deluxe M288 is a premium analog octave pedal featuring 18V Constant Headroom Technology for superior tracking and clarity. It offers two independent octave voices—Growl and Girth—with a Mid+ switch providing up to +14dB midrange boost at selectable frequencies. True bypass circuitry ensures your original tone remains untouched, while the Dry knob allows seamless blending of your direct signal. Designed for professional bassists seeking rich, dynamic octave effects with exceptional tonal control.

## Description

The Bass Octave Deluxe is a dual-voice octave pedal that offers analog tone, true bypass, and a variety of tonal options. MXR's 18 volt Constant Headroom Technology™ provides high headroom and superior tracking. Use the Dry knob to mix in your direct signal, and hit the Mid+ switch to add up to +14dB of internally adjustable mid frequencies (400Hz or 850Hz). Finally, mix in two separately controlled octave voices—Growl (for throaty tone) and Girth (for deep tone).

Review: A worthy EBS Octabass replacement - I have an EBS Octabass that I use extensively live but the pedal just wouldn't track low or sustain very well so after some research, I found a lot of positive reviews on the MXR M288 Bass Octave Deluxe. I A/B'd both before giving the MXR the seat on my board and have to say the pedal does everything it should be doing. It tracks fast, long and low while having a more "square wave" tone than the Octabass which was more of a "sine wave." This is especially noticeable when none of the bass's dry signal is added. You get this square Moogish, synthy sound that's very usable when coupled with an envelope filter, distortion and other fx. Build quality wise the MXR is decent but the EBS Octabass still wins and it is a good pedal, just not as good at tracking as the MXR.
Review: One of the Best Bass Octave Pedals - I really like this one. As most Bass players I have owned just about all the Bass Octave Pedals. As some have mentioned this one of if not the best tracking Octave Bass Pedals. I was able to get to low G on the E string before it started to miss at F# this is fine for me. A lot of what it takes to get close to consistent tracking has to do with the Bass and technique. This pedal in my opinion is very generous with Octave Pedal technique and allows you to just play and give one confidence in improving Octave pedal technique. The controls on this unit give you a wide variety sound options and the dry knob is a big plus. I use a GruvGear fret wrap which really gives you a tighter Octave sound. The fret wrap down on the neck deadens any open strings so there are virtually no "Octave Farts" from sympathetic string ringing. Again I feel this is one of if not the best tracking octave pedal besides maybe the Micro Pog which is digital and in my opinion doesn't sound great to me playing an octave below. I highly recommend the MXR Bass Octave Dlx

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for a cappella!
*by A***R on July 19, 2018*

Just received this pedal and I am quite pleased with it - I'm using it for singing and beatboxing, not so much for instruments. The octave is clear, tracks well, and the option to make the mid pop is very nice (MID+ button on the top right). Takes a 9VDC power supply or 9V battery, but neither are included. Especially useful for beatboxing - the mids/highs stay untouched while the lows get an extra punch... and the extra bass power allows for low natural bass rather than needing to use throat bass. Would recommend.
