Simple door sensor that just works

Door sensor works well. Easy to pair with Smartthings Zigbee hub and hasn't disconnected yet. It's only been a few weeks, but battery life is still at 100%. Updates reliably, really all you can ask for in a door sensor.

Only one I got that worked

I bought 3 other door sensors before this one. The others wanted you to install software specifically for that sensor but they still would not connect to Smartthings. The SONOFF connected directly to Smartthings without the SONOFF software.Super Easy connection to Smartthings! And super affordable...

Home Assistant- these work great, but Aqara is better

They work as expected, and setup within Home Assistant was painless. However, I recommend going with the Aqara contact sensors instead. The Sonoff ones are noticeably bulkier with sharper edges, so they stand out a little more and don't blend in as easily as the Aqara ones. They also seem to be less sensitive than the Aqara sensors, so you have to get the pieces closer together to register a "closed" signal. Under most circumstances this won't be a problem, but if you have an older home with crooked door frames (like I do), those extra millimeters of flexibility make placement a lot easier.

Unreliable thus far

This is about the SNZB-04The good: I was able to pair this with a 4th gen Echo without using the Sonoff zigbee hub, and trigger routines. The bad: It didn’t ship with a battery and the battery holder is very flexible and doesn’t maintain a connection without bending it. Also I’m able to trigger routines but after <1 day the status stops updating in Alexa even though I can see the status led change on the sensor. After it stops responding I can only get it up and running again by deleting the device from Alexa and re-pairing it.I only have one of these, so I don’t know if it’s a problem unit, or if they’d all exhibit these issues.

Works w/ Alexa. Gr8 contact.

This contact is 100% zigbee supported by Alexa. Can b added 2 routines w/o a hitch. No need 2 use 3rd party app. Using a door sensor 4 burgular alarm system.

50/50 reliability. Buy twice as many as you need. Half will fall offline weekly.

50/50 reliability. Buy twice as many as you need. Half will fall offline weekly. Pairs and works fine and then suddenly a week later it will be offline. No way to get it back without a hard reset. I would give 5 stars if they would swap out a new one.

magnet is too weak

The magnet in the small bit that sticks to the door is too weak so the sensor does not pick it up unless it is almost touching. If I use a magnet from a different sensor it works fine. It's a shame because otherwise it connects to Home Assistant easily and notices when it is connected or disconnected.

Excellent Integration with Hubitat

Zero complaints. No false positives, long last battery life, and easy to use.

Solid SmartThings device for the Price!

So before I get started, I'm going to point out that for $20 this is a solid addition to your smart home. Some of the cons are more based on setup than anything else but once you get passed that frustration it hasn't caused me any further issues. Again, most z-wave / ZigBee sensors run around $35+...To start, I'll get through how I set this up and added it to my SmartThings automations. Out of the box, you do get a battery included but you'll need a small pin or thumbtack to access the pair button. They have a device they use (looks like a cell phone sim card holder eject key) in the manual but it's not included. As well, after taking the tab out of the battery, the battery tends to jitter around. It's like the housing is too loose to hold it in place... I fixed this by simply folding the piece of cardboard from inside the box between the case lid and battery...Steps to Pair:1) Remove the back lid by using a screwdriver in the notches in each side of the main unit.2) Take the slip of paper between the battery and terminal out and then fold some sort of paper and place over the battery and close the cover. This will hold the battery more in place.3) Test to see if you can hear the battery moving. If so, find a thicker paper and repeat till it sounds pretty stable... From there, scan for a new device through your SmartThings app.4) I had the device and phone close to my hub for pairing and it took me a few shots for something to finally show up... Once it's searching, take the pin and pop it into the hole for 5 seconds until you see a red light flashing 3 times. (Might need to put it into pair mode more than once)5 ) Eventually it'll find the device and you can add it. The first time I added the device, it wouldn't detect the open and close (was stuck on open). So I deleted it again and re-added it and it's been solid since. The last thing is that the sensors needs to be pretty close to each other for it to detect open and close. If you have a big gap it will not detect it properly...All in all, regardless of the trouble of getting it actually paired and the battery housing being loose, it's a solid device for $20...I would recommend!

AFTER 2 Years with 5 Sonoff Sensors

IF YOU LOOK FOR CHEAP AND UNRELIABLE SENSORS, SONOFF are the best one to buy for HOME ASSISTANTThe reasons: Suddenly they stop working, lost connection, need to be paired over 10x a year, making Home Assistant unstable. The battery level goes from 4x% to 70% (for example)Need to recode every time with the sensor ID.Basically, you look for trouble .. you win ( me for instance)I decided TO GO TO WITH THE Aqara door sensorsIm not writing this just to beat on Sonoff because im having other Sonoff products and they are good BUT the sensors ARE NOT, sad to say, but they deserve it.Today: After less than 24 hours I re paired all my sensors because I lost them, I already lost one.

Easy Setup, work well

These were easy to add to Home Assistant. Only downside to these is you need a tiny phone sim pick to activate. They do not include a temperature sensor like the Aqara do. And the contacts have to be SUPER close together to work. But for the price, it'd buy again.

Difficult to replace the battery.

The problem with the design as I see it is the mounting of the PCB into the case. In order to replace the battery, you need to remove the PCB from the plastic mounting pins, or lift the spring on the battery.Neither are good choices because removing the PCB eventually breaks one of the PCB mounting tabs, and lifting the spring on the battery weakens the spring load contact of the electrical connection. Its not sufficient to simply bend it back.I lifted the PCB from the case and the tabs broke after 2 batteries. Since then I secure the PCB in the case with plumbers putty, so I can remove it. It works but only marginally.I 've found that too often it gives an incorrect reading of the door status. When I remove it re-install the battery and put a slight bend in the battery mounting clip, it will work for a short period of time then repeats itself. A new battery doesn't help either
