Can you replace this battery that has only 1 spring on top with Eveready 1209 (509) that has 2 springs on top?

The battery in the picture has two springs. One is covered by a plastic cap, to reduce the chances of the battery going dead.

What is the rated Milli-Amp hours for this battery?

According to the manufacturer's data sheet, the average capacity for this battery is 11 Ah to 0.8 volts / cell (Rated at 25mA continuous at 21°C)

why do i need 12 AA batteries if I buy this battery if this is not true, then why is it still posted?

Where do you find the expiry date on this battery?

On the bottom: PDMM.YY = Production (Manufactured) Date in month and year format. EDMM.YY = Expiration Date date in month and year format. Note that at the so called expiration date, batteries can possibly be retaining 80%+ of their original charge/capacity. An expiration date does not indicate that a battery should be discarded, but it does indicate that a battery is getting older at that point.
