Worth it
I was loathe to spend over $100 on something that seems so simple but after trying a cheap knockoff I think its worth spending the extra. What I need is something to keep the wind off my hands for the early morning commute, especially in the spring and fall. The cheaper guards were very difficult to attach to the bike, especially on the brake side as the fluid reservoir got in the way. They also provided a lot less protection as they weren't tall enough.First of all, the Barkbusters are huge and provide lots of coverage as well as clearance past the brake and clutch levers. Install was extremely easy given that these use a single connection point in the bar ends rather than needing a second clamp to the handlebars. They are very solidly built with thick, quality plastic and a removable metal reinforcing bar that keeps everything rigid. The expansion bolts fit my 7/8" Renthal bars without trouble and a larger set for 1" bars was included in the package (the instructions said 'sold separately'). Renthals are slightly thicker than most handlebars which means the inside dimensions are a bit smaller. Having this fit without adjustment was a plus.Other thoughts: I really like the look of these on my naked bike (SV650) so they'll be good for summer riding too. Get them and you won't be disappointed.

Bar-end mount would not tighten, single-point mounting.
These Barkbusters only mount on the bar ends and do not attach at the second point near the middle of the handlebars. While the construction appears sturdy, I don't think they would protect your hands from anything more than small branches and wind/rain. Despite this I still tried to mount them on my '13 Honda CB500X with 7/8" bars, but even after removing the factory bar-ends and weights I could not get the Barkbuster bar-end to tighten sufficiently to hold the guard steady. Even when tightened completely and with the 7/8" bar hardware I was still able to wiggle the sleeve and guard all the way off the bar by hand. I returned this product and will replace them with the two-point mounting system.

I use them on an 07 Ninja 250, works great had a bit of a difficult time mounting due to the style of handlebars the Ex250 has, but I managed to Work it out using what was included, in a slightly different way then intended.Works great, Some days I will not wear gloves because the hand guards block a good bit of wind, and I dont have to worry about rocks hitting my hands. It doesn't completely block the wind, especially a bit farther away from it by your wrists. So In cold weather Wear gloves!

save your money !
garbage, no way this is going to protect the bike during a spill!!. The hardware is very cheap for the price and the fit is not quite right for standard handle bars. i have had to tighten the hardware down 3 times ! I will be taking these off and putting back in stock handlebar weights next season. (2014 Honda NC700x)

I mounted The Barkbusters .but can't tighten them up enough 2 keep them from moving. Can't put enough torque on the little Allen bolt 2 hold them N place. They do look good & do the job of protecting my hands from cold & keep my Hippo Hands wind breakers N place. If these were supplied with stronger Allen bolts they would B fine.

Hand Guards to block wind from hands on cold days K1200RS
Installed these on my K1200RS BMW. Note: (The K1200RS BMW - Non-Heated Grip Model or cut wire or do modification you can find on the internet chat rooms) These are to block the wind from my hands during the winter. I ride down to 28deg F. They work great for this. I am not sure how well they would work for brush and scrapes due to the one support mount. If you are looking for that type of guard get the two point mount model.

Great guards
This is my second set because somebody knocked my bike over in a parking lot and destroyed my first set. They work great. Very sturdy and help go keep some of the cold wind off of my hands on my morning commutes.

Only half a bark
The Single-Sided Bar End Mounting doesn't suit my purposes, not enough support for a near 600 pound Adventure Bike in the event of an unintended get off. I had to return the item. Build quality of the seemed good for its intended purpose.
