When you order a tape that has a name like "Hardy Barbarian", you expect it to exude a toughness that is tangible.However, after using this tape I can say that it is a far cry from being "hardy" or "barbarian-like" in any manner except one: the container the tape in which it is contained. This gaffer's tape has a strength only greater than masking tape. The paper backing is thin and doesn't mold or conform well to objects. It is very easy to tear off though. The glue used is mediocre and doesn't adhere well to most surfaces. Both characteristics of not conforming to objects well and terrible adherent properties make for a gaffer's tape that doesn't hold up to the name brand defining it. I'm just going to throw the whole roll of tape away and keep the container it came in, which will have many more uses than the tape will...I would suggest shelling out a few more clams and getting Intertape brand gaffers tape, ProTape brand, or 3M brand. They are far superior to the "Hardly Barbarian" brand tape and they are just as available from Amazon.***Update***24 March 2016***So, Hardy Barbarian, reached out to me after my review. They expressed their concerns with me about my displeasure with their product. After discussion with the customer service rep, I was issued a refund and they arranged to send a second roll of tape to me free of charge. Quite surprising since most businesses rarely do such things anymore. They told me that it was possible the adhesive on my initial roll of gaffers tape might have been a manufacturing defect or some how diminished during shipment. I can say that they were truthful in regards to the refund and the new roll of gaffers tape arrived today. I have looked it over thoroughly. The adhesive surface is tacky and sticks well, however, the Intertape brand I've used before is a bit tackier but not by a large margin. Where the Intertape really excels is it's flexibility and mold-ability on irregular surfaces. The Hardy Barbarian gaffers tape has more of a paper backing over the top of the adhesive surface with fibers sandwiched in between, it doesn't really feel like cloth infused vinyl like most of the brands I've seen and used. The Intertape definitely feels like cloth with an industrial feel, extremely mold-able and flexible, and a nice tacky adhesive surface. So, between those two brands, I would still pick Intertape.Where the Hardy Barbarian gaffers tape falls somewhat short on quality of material, they make up for it with great customer satisfaction, follow up, and service. They really want to create a great product and I think once there R&D department makes some serious strides in quality. Hardy Barbarian will give the more well know brands a run for their money.

This is definitely a step up from duct tape. If that's what you've used before you'll be very pleased with this tape. The beautiful container it ships in is really nice, and mine came with a couple of velcro cable ties thrown it. All of that was great.This tape definitely feels different from cloth based gaffers tape such as products from ProTapes or 3M. It is thinner, shinier, rips differently, and seems to have a different adhesive. The good news is that this tape did not leave any residue on my cables or stands. The bad news is that it pulled black paint off of the wooden stage floor in the 2 year old theater where I first used it. I had to volunteer some time to help repaint parts of the stage to stay in the theater manager's good graces. To be fair and clear, I didn't have any other paint pulling issues where I used it on walls. I'm still using this stuff, but mostly on carpet, tile and linoleum floors. But I'm not as confident in it as I am with other gaffers tape I've used.Update: I used this outdoors for the first time last week as a kind of test. After sitting in direct sunlight for two days, the tape left a very sticky mess on my cables. I've had other brands of gaffers tape do the same thing, but I was able to clean my cables with alcohol on the other tape, and alcohol hasn't cut the adhesive on this tape. I'm going to write to HardyBarbarian and see what they recommend to clean up the adhesive. I'll report back my results.

So to clear up some misconceptions... first, Gaffer tape is not the same as duct tape... It is significantly more expensive and initially you may feel that it isn't worth the extra cost. Well, it is! Gaffer tape is the only way to secure cables to a variety of different mounting materials. It comes off clean with no gummy residue and most importantly it WILL NOT DAMAGE whatever you're sticking it to. If you've ever used duct tape to tape down an extension cord to artificial turf, you will find that it does not come off and needs to be cut out! This can be a very costly mistake! Gaffer tape comes off clean and it can be reapplied, but I've personally never done that.This tape from the Hardy Barbarian, is exceptional! The packaging is second to none, there isn't any of that plastic shrink-wrap to contend with, it comes in a hard cylindrical box that will be used for other things long after the tape is gone. The free velcro cable ties are a very nice bonus.Bottom line, this is now my Gaffer Tape of Choice. Thank you Hardy Barbarian!I have not received any compensation or free product for my review. This product is amazing, nothing gets a job done better than quality gaffer tape and this is just the tape you need. For projects or film this tape is sticky enough to stay in place but never leaves any residue. I highly recommend this tape. Also, HardyBarbarian was kind enough to email me to make sure I was satisfied, answered all of my questions and gave me a few tips on other things I can use the tape for. I wouldn't buy any other brand after getting this tape.

Great tape, but did not stick to the concrete floor that had a gloss on it.

The tape tears easily by hand and removes easily. It did leave some sticky residue on a couple cords but left nothing behind on car paint. It's better than 3M painters tape to secure wires.It even came in its own round box.

professional grade. Nicest tape I've used. We keep one in the pouch all the time and use it quite often before the show and set up.strong, clean and nice and strong and know one knows it's there.

Horrible crap. Do not buy. I work in the Entertainment industry and you should be able to easily rip gaf tape to the length you need. This tape will rip in a straight line zero percent of the time. Some of us don't have time to get scissors to actually get a piece of tape the right length.
