It's very sharp and quite good, but too long and too heavy.

The first thing I tried to slice with this was an onion and there was some drag to it. I sharpened it and tried again on a different onion and a pepper and it was definitely better. It is a bit heavy and doesn't feel natural in my grip like some other knives I've used.

Decent knife, great for the price, bad vendor.
This is my review of the 8" Barmix Chef's knife from "Attican". I put "Attican" in quotes because when I contacted "Attican" about a couple issues I had with the knife I received, using the email that was provided to me, I received an email back from another vendor of knives, and although he said it wasn't his knife, the email I sent to "Attican" went right to him. I have a feeling that they may be the same person, but I have no proof of that, but I personally wouldn't purchase another product from this vendor until he starts answering questions from the "Attican" email. On to the knife review. The knife comes shipped in a "nice" black presentation box, which has a magnetic seal. It actually WOULD make a nice gift the way that is is packed (much nicer than a knife in plastic packaging), however mine was all beat up, and I would be EMBARRASSED to give this knife as a gift because the box looked like it was kicked around the warehouse. Please try to keep in mind that I TRIED to contact the seller of this knife ("Attican") before writing this review, but only got a response from "kitchen-galaxy", who claims that this isn't his knife. The knife itself is a decent 8" chef's knife, which is the staple of any chef, whether in a restaurant or home kitchen. I have worked in both, so I appreciate a good 8" chef's knife. This one is a little on the light side, but that makes it nice for veggies, herbs, and fine work. It didn't come "razor" sharp out of the beat up box, but it was certainly sharp enough to put right into service. One minute touching up the edge with a sharpening system that costs 5 times the cost of the knife put a perfect edge on it, kind of sad that they couldn't ship it that way, but I guess that's to be expected if something is "made in China". They just don't care enough to do a good job. That could be because they are basically slaves to a communistic government that treats its citizens like garbage, but no worries, I bought an AWESOME knife sharpener that was made right here in the USA, and it made the just OK blade into AWESOME!The finish on the knife itself is decent, it's no Wusthof or Henckels (it never claimed to be in it's defense though lol). The fit and finish are OK, SLIGHTLY rough edges here and there, but nothing that keeps the knife from functioning . I've used a LOT of knives over the years, and this one seems pretty decent. I like the feel of the knife in my hand, after sharpening it, it's MUCH better to work with, and although I don't know the quality or composition of the steel (and yes, it makes a HUGE difference), I hope that it holds up to years of service.I did receive this product for a discount for my honest review, and obviously I don't just give out 5 star reviews just because I received something for a discount. If "Attican" had responded to my questions himself (or herself), I would have given this knife a better review, but because the box was not in any kind of condition in which I would have considered acceptable to give the knife as a gift in, and because the knife was not razor sharp, as any good chef's knife should be, I unfortunately had to take 2 stars off of the rating.
